Aloe Vera--
The Aloe Vera is a medicinal plant, which used properly, can be the best treatment for suburns and other minor burns.
The part of the Aloe Vera which is used are the leaves. The Aloe is an Emollient, Purgative and Vulnerary. It
is also used for its antibacterial, anesthetic and antiseptic properties,
Folk History--
Some common names of Aloe include: Barbados Aloe, and Curacao Aloe. From Egyptian writings
1500 BCE* about medicines, they used and recommended Aloe for the treatment of the same ailments
we use it for today!

Abscess Root --
also known as American Greek Valerian, Blue Bells, False Jacob's Ladder and Sweatroot.
This plant grown in the moist woodsy parts of the United States.
Astringent, alterative, diaphoretic, expectorant. The drug has been recommended for use in
febrile and inflammatory eases, all scrofulous diseases, in bowel complaints requiring an astringent,
for the bites of venomous snakes and insects, for bronchitis and laryngitis and whenever an
alterative is required. It is reported to have cured consumption; an infusion of the root in
wineglassful doses is useful in coughs, colds and all lung complaints, producing copious perspiration

Acacis - pseudo acacia--
This plant has been known to help with diarrhea and used as an astringent gargle, lotion, or injection.

Acacia--
Acacia has been known to help inflammations, coughs, sore throat. It has been used as an eyewash, taken for diarrhea and dysentery.

Aconite also known as Blue Rocket, Monkshood, Wolfsbane--
This plant is very toxic and must be handled with care.(my advice is to not use it at all.)
After being treated it has been known to be a stimulant, heart tonic, pain killer, narcotic,
mild laxative, and local anesthetic. Also, for colds, chills, vomiting, rheumatoid arthritis
(or gout pain), chest pain, stomach ache, loss of appetite and inflammation of the kidney.

Adder's Tongue a.k.a. Fawn Lily or Trout Lily, Dog's Tooth Violet, American Adder's Tongue, Yellow Snowdrop, Serpent's Tongue
Very toxic when raw but edible if cooked properly. This is used for treating wounds and ulcers. The roots and leaves are used and the collecting of roots is best in the fall. Grows best in woodsy areas.

Adonis a.k.a. Hellebore (false), Red Chamomile, Pheasant's Eye, Adonis, Red Morocco, Rose-a-rubie, Red Mathes, Sweet Vernal.
This plant is a herbaceous perennial with bright yellow flowers and feather looking leaves. Found in many parts of Europe.
This herb has been known to treat nervousness, heart problems, and hyperactive thyroid disorders. It is actually a heart stimulant.

Adrue--
Latin name: Cyperus articulatus
Other name: Guinea Rush
This plant has been used to control nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and gas. In some instances adrue is used for headaches and epilepsy; for blood in the urine, and for some female disorders such as menstrual irregularity, breast pain, and vaginal discharge. It is great for nausea in pregnancy. It also has a calming affect and it's aroma provides a feeling a warmth.
Only the blackish red root is used for medicinal uses. The root is found in Jamaica and Turkey. It is sometimes called Adrue Jamaica

Agar Agar Gelidium amansii
May also be known as Japanese Isinlglass
Agar can be used as a vegetable substitute for to make gelatin. Dilute 2 Tbsp. of Agar Powder in 1 pint of water or fruit juice. Cook for 5 minutes and then add fruit or vegetables. Pour into mold and refrigerate until hard.
Agar does not have any sugar, salt, starch, yeast, wheat, gluten, corn, soy, milk, egg or preservatives.
Agar Powder is derived entirely from natural seaweed.
This has been known to help with constipation.

Agrimony
Agrimonia Eupa
Can be used internally for diarrhea. Great astringent. Typical dosage is 1 to 3 cups of tea per day (steep 1 tsp. of dried leaves in 1 cup of hot water for 10 minutes).

Astragalus-- Immune system protection, digestion aid and adrenal gland function, increases metabolism and stamina, produces spontaneous sweating, increases energy, reduces fatigue, promotes healing, benefits colds and flu. Effective for AIDS, cancer, and tumors. Benefits chronic lung weekness.
*This herb is also called Huang Qi.
*CAUTION
Astragalus should "not" be taken if the user has a fever.

there are a lot more herbs in the A catagory but I am going to move on for now I will post some more in this catagory at a later date.

*Calendula--Beneficial for skin disorders, rashes, sunburns, neuritis, toothaches, diaper rash, and childhood skin problems. Anti-inflammatory, fever reducer, and useful to regulate menstrual cycles.
*When using externally, test a small skin area to check for allergy reaction.

*Chamomile--Has been used, not only as a tea, but as extracts, ointments and tinctures for indigestion, skin rashes and scientific studies support its antispasmodic, anti-infective, and anti-inflammatory uses.
Traditional remedy for insomnia, anxiety and stress. Helps digestion, used as appetite stimulant, anti-inflammatory, and diuretic. Improves appetite, benefits addiction withdrawal, assists nerves colitis, diverticulosis. Helps reduce fever, pain and headaches.
*Most widely used as a tea for its calming and gentle relaxing properties. Known as a bedtime drink.
*CAUTION
Do not use over long periods of time since it could lead to allergies. Those who are allergic to ragweed should not use Chamomile.

*Cascara Sagrada--Colon cleanser and laxative. Can be used for colon disorders and parasitic infestation and gall bladder.
*If taken in tea form, Cascara Sagrada is very bitter.

*Catnip--Digestive and sleep aid, relieves anxiety and stress, stimulates the appetite, beneficial in use of colds, flu, inflammation, and pain. Controls fever, hiccups, gas, and cigarette cravings.
*In the presence of a fever, catnip tea enemas reduce fever quickly.

*Cat's Claw--Enhances the action of white blood cells, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, benefits intestinal problems and viral infections, and cleanses the intestinal tract. Might be helpful in treating arthritis, ulcers, cancer, tumors, or AIDS.

*Cayenne can be used with the herb, Lobelia, for nerves.
Also called Capsicum, Hot Pepper, and Red Pepper.

*Cedar--Stimulates immune system, increases venous blood flow, antiviral and antifungal properties, urinary antiseptic, lymphatic cleanser, and acts as an expectorant. Can be used externally for warts.

*Celery--Improves appetite, relieves muscle spasms, helps arthritis, benefits kidney problems, and reduces blood pressure. Can be used as a sedative and acts as an antioxidant.
*CAUTION
During pregnancy, do not use in large amounts

*Chaparral--Acts as a free radical scavenger and protects against harmful effects of radiation and sun exposure. Benefits skin disorders and helps to protect against tumors, cancer cells, and relieves pain.

Only use externally. Taking internally can cause liver damage.

*Chickweed--Appetite suppressant, burns fat, dissolves plaque from veins, reduces mucus buildup in lungs, may lower blood lipids, helps bronchitis, coughs, colds, circulatory problems, skin diseases, and warts. A good source of Vitamin C.

*Cinnamon--Relieves congestion, diarrhea, and nausea. Benefits peripheral circulation of the blood, enhances digestion, metabolism of fats, increases body warmth, and fights fungal infection. Helps weight loss, yeast infection, uterine hemorrhaging, digestive problems and diabetes.

*Comfrey--Increases the healing of skin problems, wounds, bed sores, bites and stings, bruises, burns, dermatitis, bunions, dry skin, bleeding hemorrhoids, leg ulcers, psoriasis, rashes, sunburns, and nosebleeds.
*Also called Knitbone.
*CAUTION
Do not take internally - can lead to liver damage.

*Cornsilk--Benefits the kidneys, bladder, painful urination, prostate, small intestine, carpal tunnel syndrome, edema, obesity, premenstrual syndrome, and bed-wetting. Acts as a diuretic.

*Cranberry--Reduces infections of the urinary tract, acidifies urine and prevents bacteria from adhering to the bladder. Good source of Vitamin C. In some cases, regular use can help to prevent yeast infections and can act as a mild diuretic.
*As with other juices, make sure to buy "concentrate" with no sugar added.
