Hi guys, here's 2 more to indentify.

The first one was labeled as White Turquoise. I have done some googling and have come up with conflicting info. Some site simply state that this stone is white turq and others say that its misnamed to fetch a higher price. These sites say that it is a combination of quartz, calcite and alunite. It somewhat resembles howlite, however the stone is a more creamy ivory color.

The second was not labeled. Is is perhaps serpentine?

The white looks like dendritic (sp) agate to me, but I would ask our local stone witch what he thinks. Czechwoods is aces with that kind of stuff. :)

that could be one. Dendritic agate. Another one could be dalmation jasper or zebra jasper.
I never saw the darker areas of howlite as black. usually the ones i saw are grey. I agree with Flying Bear lets see what Czechwoods knows.

The second stone could be sefinite. but i`m not sure. When you tilt the second one. does the lighter areas of it kinda dazzle ?

Another one could be dalmation jasper or zebra jasper. I'm pretty sure that dalmation jasper is spotted, like a dalmation.
I googled zebra jasper and most didn't look like what I've got here. The one that was very close was mexican zebra jasper, but that was decidedly white and black and what I have is decidedly not white.

Nope, no dazzle.
*waits patiently for Czechwoods*

looked dendritic agate up, probably not what I've got. The black parts don't look like dendrites. They are more random in appearance.

By the way CzechWoods, I pm'd you about the other stone you were telling me about. :flowers:

My guess. The first one reminds me of howlite or magnesite. Howlite is often made blue and sold as turquoise, which is why they maybe sold it as 'white' turquoise. You said the stone is more creamy so it could be magnesite maybe. Not sure about this one. The green stone looks like green tourmaline (verdelite) to me.

Hmm, perhaps magnesite for the white one. The green one isn't tourmaline though, tourmanline has some transparency, this stone doesn't. It is a yellowy green with lots of black. And it is completely solid, no light shines through at all.

LOL, I really was on the wrong leg there thinking the stone was not opaque. :p
In this case I would guess nephrite, some kind of jade. Maybe Czechwood knows for sure.

**calls out in a singsongy voice~~

Holy Gem master, Lord Divine,
Czechwood,Czechwood,Czechwood,
I stand before your sacred shrine.
to hear you speak the gospel of the mine.
My words tickle at deafened ear.
Holy Gem master, Lord Divine
Czechwood,Czechwood,Czechwood,
Send a message, awaken the mind.
Through your vision we are learned
The lesson you so freely gives.
Holy Gem master, Lord Divine,
Czechwood,Czechwood,Czechwood,
Send them your enchanted design
Clear out the cobwebs, tear down walls
Carry to us from ignorance' walls.

CzechWoods is back

lol, i love you guys :yourock:

i had been on a faire the whole weekend, just posted my story om mwad.

friday was a preparations day, where i moved half of my stuff to a guided barn, where it could stay for the faire.
than i moved the other half of my stuff on saturday morning. than i built up my booth. tables including i have had to move about 3/4 ton of stuff. saturday evening, move all stuff to the ban nearby. sunday retreiving the stuff and rebuilding the booth. sunday, putting all back into the barn. tomorrow: clear the barn

:yayhawaii: *sarcasm* so i am kinda drained today

the dark green one first: can you scratch it with a needle ?
i8f yes: serpentine

if no: nephrit jade

the other stone you poked me about ;) I intend to answer your jkind request by the end of the week (tuesday is for sleep), and post the info as well on my stone museum page.

the creamy stone: i would have guessed tree agate. again you can make a test: try scratching it with a needle, if there is no sign of success, it is likey to be some harder stone but magnesite/howlite

other guesses would be
aktinolite with chloride
porphyrite
green chalcedony: chacedony w/ iron silicon

Yes, both can be scratched. Can tree agate have black in it? I always thought that it was with green.

Glad you're back, but get some rest huh?

CzechWoods

yes, me too, i laugh out loud literally and blush at the same time reading the poem.

the whitisg stone looks like feldspar to me though, that glimmering reeflection onm its back side

hmm, just a thought.

try scratching it with a clear quartz point.

the green: could also be soapstone

Actually that is what I scratched both with and both were scratched by the quartz point.

My gut instinct is telling me that the green is serpentine. The white though, no gut instinct.

:yayhawaii: i came across the stone today, the white one ....

what kept me going all the time is the glttering thingy on the white, i was like: you have seen that already on other stones, and i was thinking moonstone - labradorite - amazonite (so feldspar) but now it just hit me with the hammer:

i guess it is a calcium-carboanate aka marble, the zebra marble, which is black and white marble....

well thats my latest guess, and that one would be scratchable by quartz and steel too....

as for the green: how does it feel in the hand ?
if it feels like like fat, it should be soapstone
serpentine has its own feel. but i guess if you feel serpentine it will be serpentime

I think we have a winner! I looked at lots of pictures of zebra marble, and this definately looked like some of the pictures! (But not all, some of the stones were very zebra like, but some were less defined.)

I have a soapstone box and the green stone definately doesn't feel like soapstone.
