Is it possable for you to go into meditation in your sleep? Afterall to go into meditation you need a clear head, which is given in sleep.

On one of the most powerful days in my short life...ie this morning. I had a dream. But it fealt so much like meditation.

So I have the power, if someone was tying to send me a message on the powerful day, when all my guards are down and I am close to meditation (which is what sleep is), could they? Could I go to that place you go to in meditation and recieve this message? Or could it just be a dream, nothing more?

I think it's possible. I can't say one way or the other. Depending on what the message was, it may sit better with you or less well. I always go off of my gut instinct if I can. What were your initial thoughts? I think it's possible, but I am in no position to say whether or not your message/dream was "real". I have a tough time believing things, sometimes to find out that they were true later on. Other times I believe things that aren't true at all. :whatgives

If you don't mind me asking and it's not personal or anything, what was the dream or message about? If you can't, I don't care. It just means that it's none of my business and I'm cool with that.

It was basically showing me something spiritual and saying this is yours. I don't want to go too deep into the explaination till I know, but yeah it's nothing I don't mind sharing, I just like to know if messages are real before I go into explaining them.

It fealt so real. I thought it had to be. I knew I wasn't really there with this man. I knew it, but at the same time I knew I was. Much like the feeling of meditation when you know your in your room but you also know you're in the forest talking to a bear or whatever.

I think all dreams are a form of medidation and such.

I read somewhere (can't remember where) that when we meditate our brainwave pattern is very similar to our dream state. So I'd say it's very possible you recieved a message.

Yeah I heard that somewhere too, which is why I didn't simply dismiss it as some kind of strange form of dream.

Practically the only real time I have to meditate is as I go to sleep, and I find that more and more, my dreams have become more vivid, symbolic, more like meditation if you will. It's been almost two years of regular work now, but I find that if I intentionally go to sleep while meditating on a subject, that I'll dream about it and glean some important information from the experience...at times I've even had conversations with people in my dreams. My ex-husband for instance...:ggrief:

And as a nice aside, because I've gone to bed just about every night stating that I remember everything that I dream, if I study something just before bed it's nearly guaranteed to stick in my head. I've had one good lucid dream, several good answers to spirituality, and was chewed out by a teacher in my dream for flirting with him in real life...heh..so I stopped. Things got better in class after that. I'm still working on obe and getting to be regularly lucid, which still seems to be a challange, but chi-sleep is ok and I remember my dreams every night.

Having patience and practice has really really paid off.

I believe our full-aware state is comprised of beta waves. Light meditiation, hypnosis, and drowsiness are dominated by alpha waves (as well as TV watching, etc...) Theta waves are associated with dreaming, deep hypnosis and trance. Delta waves are associated with deep dreamless sleep....There are a lot of amazing books on the subject, both technical and spiritual. You might want to dive into some C. Jung as well. I truly loved his take on dreams and their meaning.
