Well, my little girl is sick again. She has this bronchial condition that acts up when the weather changes. It's called Bronchial Spasms. Well two days ago she had no signs of being sick then yesturday she started to cough horribly. I took her to the dr today and they seem to think its either acute bronchitis or Pneumonia. So I had to take her for blood tests and X-rays. We should have the results by tomorrow since the dr put STAT on both the orders. I'll let you know what it is when I find out.

How old is your baby? Not to scare you but when I had to take my now 3 year old to have x-rays (she was probably a year and a half) they put her in this torture type device. :( It probably wasn't so bad for her-she was just screaming because she was restrained. But it was HORROR for me. I was sobbing for hours. Then they thought they saw something and had to do it again...it turned out to just be poop. In anycase-my heart aches for you. It's the worst feeling when your babies are sick and you can't "fix it".

My thoughts are with you my son is 4 and has severe asthma. He has had it since 1year of age. I know how frightening it can be so my thoughts go to both of you.

The tests all came back negative. She just has a really nasty cough. The doctor is going to decide if she needs an antibiotic tomorrow.

DaWitch I'm glad to hear your daughter is ok! And I agree with Swanie talk to her doctor about boosting her system!

Yeah I think I will. The thing is, with the Bronchial condition she has she only gets bad when the weather changes drastically (in NJ it's been really warm all day then suddenly at 5 mins after 5pm it's FREEZING)

She basically has seasonal asthma.

They won't treat her yr round so there is really no way to prevent the big attack every season.

It just su$ks

There are herbal helps available for bronchial & respiratory problems. I seem to remember you saying your daughter is quite young. Have you thought about taking her to a certified herbalist? They may be able to boost her immune system to help fend off infections.

When my nephew was under a year old, he would always come down with a cold. Each bout would last a long time. We had him on a weak herbal tea to help boost his immune system. The duration of the cold bouts would be shorter & he seems to be getting sick less frequent too. I'm not saying he's got the same thing as your daughter but just something else that might help.

Glad to here she is not too bad.
It really bites when the kids are sick and we can't fix them. We can love and cuddle and baby them, stay up all night to watch over them, clean up unmentionable sorts of messes:eek: and love them to pieces, but we can't make the yucky cold or virus go away. Yet, I really enjoy it sometimes when my kids are sick..... I get to baby them just like when they were babies( :) I don't have to do the diapers though;) ;) ;) :D ) yet, they appreciate all the extra love and attention. That makes it worthwhile sometimes. However, worrying about them.....that is a horrible helpless feeling. I guess it is all part of being a parent. (   did I just say that??!!!) I just quoted my mother! :D:D

Medicaid doesn't pay for herbalists and I cannot afford one so I can't do that unfortunatly.

We all turn into our mothers. It happens when we realize that alot of what they said was actually pretty accurate:p

I can give you a list of herbs that may be helpful. Is there any health/herb store nearby? Sometimes, they have herbalists working there & can give you some info too. Also, some store have free herbal consultations.

Da Witch, here's a list of herbs that may help with bronchial problems. You may want to research these further.

honeysuckle, forsythia, skullcap.
eucalyptus, marshmallow root, & mullien as an expectorant to bring up plegm & to soothe the respiratory tracts.
raw garlic to boost the immune system.

Hope your little girl's ok.

Well, we're going back to the dr. 9 days into the "cold" and she still isn't better at all. In fact it seems to be getting worse. If they tell me that it's nothing I'm going to scream. I hate this she's been taking cough meds and her nebulizer treatments and they aren't working. The dr refuses to give her anti-biotics b/c there is supposedly no infection.

:( So sad for you, I don't know what to say. I hate when doctors make you feel like you're paranoid or stupid. They'd better do something!!

Da Witch

Well, suprise, suprise .............what was supposedly a bad cold 9 days ago is a severe ear infection. We finally got the d@mn anti-biotic so hopefully she'll be feeling better in a few days.
