I ask because... well I feel a bit stupid for saying but I was just cooking some top ramen on my stove when a white mass on the floor caught my eye. It looked like a cat, in fact it looked like one of the white cats that ran around my house. One died, the other isnt allowed in.
I figured it was my eyes, but I saw it AGAIN in the corner of my eye. Then I went to see if the cat was in the house, so I searched and found nothing. As I was walking back I had the ramen pot in my hand, the steam was washing over on to my hand and it was kind of warm, but my hand got a chill all of a sudden.
Then I put my hand out and felt the coldness right where I saw the white blob and it was pretty cool. Ironically, the heat turned on just then but it was already 73 in the house.
After that I got a weird smell, almost like a clean smell. As if you just washed something with a non perfumed detergent.
Now I'm not one to be spooked by such things, but I'm still not sure if what I saw/smelled/felt was real. Does any of this sound familiar to you guys or is my mind playin tricks on me with Samhain so close?

I do. I have occasionally seem "something" out of the corner of my eye. I had a little wake up call when I was driving home the other night (right around midnight or 1am) when on the highway I realized there was a HUGE blood-looking splatter all over one section of the highway. I got chills driving over it-way too late to swerve and miss it. I don't know if the chills were just my mind or what but I felt like there was someone in the car with me the rest of the way home (I was driving AS FAST AS I COULD cause I was pretty freaked out). When I got home I found out that there was indeed a huge car accident there while I was at work.

You have more to fear from the living than the dead.

My answer to "do you believe in ghosts" is do you believe in rocks? I don't "believe in them", I sense and see them.

P.S. with Samhain so close it's no surprise that you are "more able to sense" spirits. The veil thins :)

No need to give me a smart reply, I just asked a question.
I believe in what I see, and I don't see ghosts (at least not on a regular basis).

 :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: :ghost: We've lived in a house with a spirit for 23 yrs. About 15 yrs. ago my cat sneaked out of the house and was killed in the road. When my husband came home from work, he saw her on the dining room table. Without thinking, he told her to getoff. She disappeared before his eyes. I think she wanted to say goodbye to him. " Somewhere in the afterglow, love lives on and on".

I've seen too many to NOT think they are real. :D
When I was a kid, I used to see things all the time. I used to spend weekends at my dad's, and one weekend my stepsister and I were sleeping on the couches in the living room (guests sleeping in 'our' room), we both woke up at the same time, saw a figure of a man sitting on the couch in the family room. Not doing anything, just sitting there. Found out the next morning NOBODY had awakened in the middle of the night to sit there.
We have a ghost cat in our house. We only have one cat. Sometimes my cat will be sitting on my lap, and I'll see another one walking around the house. Sometimes I can feel it jump up on the bed when my cat is already there. This ghost cat followed us from our apartment, so I think we have a permanent guest. Fine by me. :)
There used to be a ghost jogger on HWY 4, but I haven't seen him in years. Probably left after the construction to enlarge the highway began.
Last but not least, I've been to the Winchester Mystery House (San Jose, CA) many times, seen lots of activity there. I think they hang out just to mess with the tourists who expect them to be there.:nonono:

^_^ don't be scared or anything hehe. I love ghost kitties. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I feel them, sometimes I just get the idea that something's there but I can't tell what. I think ghost cats are about as common as palm trees in LA. hehe and usually they just want to be seen.

i've seen them a few different places. i've definitly seen my childhood dog at my parents house many times. Once i saw her with her head in the trash. Old habits die hard i guess.
My friends lived in an old school house for a while. When they were there during the day, they used to hear laughter and little feet running around. Then one day, the noise stopped. They were bummed out about it untill they realized why. It was june. they were on summer break.
can't explain it. wont even try......

I remember a few months after my Grandpa died, I was taking a nap on the couch in his Bakery (he was an incredible baker.. mmm cookies)... it was Christmas time, and I was tired, and all the bedrooms had presents, or coats, or people in them, so I decided to sleep in his bakery. Anyways, I woke up, but didn't feel like opening my eyes yet... and I heard the sound of someone sweeping with a broom... and my grandpa ALWAYS used to sweep, cause he was pretty messy with the flour. :) Anyways, I opened my eyes, and my cousin Tawnye was sitting in the chair across from me, with the strangest smile on her face. She was 6 at the time. I said, "What are you doin? Where's your mom?" And she said, "She told me to come and wake you up, and then I saw Grandpa." Being as how she was really young, and hadn't been to my grandparents house since his funeral, I said, "Honey, Grandpa's not here anymore." And she said, "I know, he just left." I said, "No, I mean, he died.. don't you remember?" and she rolled her eyes at me and said, "Of course I remember. He just wanted to say goodbye to you." That was an amazing moment in my life... and when I talk to Tawnye about it now, she says she still remembers very clearly walking into the bakery, and she saw my grandpa.. he was stroking my hair while I was sleeping. He looked at her, and made the "shhh" motion (ya know, finger to lips thing) and then he kissed the top of my head, and went over, grabbed his broom, started sweeping, then disappeared. :) hehe I love my Grandpa so much. I hope to talk to him again tomorrow night.. I spoke to him last year. :)

Well, it might explain some of the things that I see out of the corner of my eye.. Like every day around my house. Today it was a ceramic bunny that I made a few years ago - the ears on it were moving, but that's only one of the many things I see. (I've also seen shadow animals running across the floor).....
It doesn't freak me out all that much, though, because I've been seeing these kinds of things since I was a kid. :woah:

Ill you still haven't answered that.
I'm sitting here and watching this show about "paranormal activities" and "ghosts". What gets me is that everytime they see anything odd - floating balls, moving mists, moving furniture, etc. they go "look it's a ghost".
For example in one where the group was questioned on why they didn't think the mist was just regular mist - and their response? "Because if it was it would've left condensation on our camera lenses". Uhm, ok? If it was steam, yes, but that doesn't answer the question of why it wasn't mist or fog.
And why must it always be a ghost? I mean, what if it's spirits on another plane that has momentarily come very close to ours? No one considers how they could be entities on other planes, or looks into the physics etc. involved therewith. No one even tries to go "well maybe there was something wrong with my film". It's just "oh that's a ghost".
Yes I believe spirits of many kinds can exist, simply because no one can prove otherwise, or at least even really give a good scientific reason why they wouldn't. I dunno, I just wonder if other people really think about it and the possibilities or if they just go oh well anythings possible to this MUST be true.

I meant to post on this the other night. I have seen a few ghosts in my time so I believe in them. Imay have been watching the same show as Myst. They kept talking and showing glowing orbs..................It was dark, the person had a little round flashlight, everytime the flashlight moved, the orb moved in a corresponding direction. It was so obviously some sort of reflection.................I mean come on...............

ghosts can be many things. they can be memories attached to a place, active spirits, thought forms, devas, faeries, etheric or astral bodies.
My mum grew up in a haunted house, and my grandfather used to tell stories when I was a child about the weird things that happened in that house.
I think people who are sensitives probably have different levels of ability to see ghosts, although I think some also may hear them, or become aware of them through other senses.
My primary sense appears to be hearing, although it seem not to have anything to do with ears. In the old terms it's called clairaudience, rather than clairvoyance, which is seeing.
I am very happy to hear the ghost cat stories. I've seen many. My mum's present house has three or four ghost cats, and a ghost dog.
I have sensed, or felt the tough of ghosts in old buildings, once in a 125 year old newspaper office. One person who worked there said when she was alone in the building at night she would hear typewriters. Of course, there were only computer keyboards in the building.
It's never been a threatening experience. Long after my grandfather sold his old house, I went back there to do an interview with the physician who owned it. As I took a photo of the outside of the house I felt a very dense pressure on the top of my head and forehead. Later I mentioned to him that my grandfather had owned the house and used to tell stories about its hauntings. The doctor said, "You know, I alway knew there was some kind of paranormal activity here." Then he told me some stories.

i totally agree with what you were saying about ghosts being many different things epona!
i never knew animal ghosts were so common, wow!
it's great to hear some happy ghost stories, all my experiences with ghosts have been pretty disturbing. i tend not to see or feel, although i have done once or twice, but i sense ghost all the time! i only really thought about it the other day but because i have grown up with such sensitivity i've grown used to it and i didnt really realise how much i do sense, i just kinda ignored it cos it didnt feel nice.
i always like to hear peoples views and stories on ghosts so thank you all who have posted on this thread and all who will!

hehe, when I was younger I remember playing by the beach with my two friends and my brother and saw this beautiful white cat with one green eye and one blue eye sitting on a log watching us. When I pointed him out to the others, they stared and stared and stared but couldn't figure out what I was talking about. Then I tried to get closer, but the kitty jumped off and completely disappeared. That freaked me out really badly at the time, but I was pretty awed as well.
Then I attended an elementry school that was (and still is) the oldest standing school in my city. It was a really strict place and we were forced to play outside rain or shine at recess. So my friend and I would sneak into the basement of the place when it poured outside and hide from the staff and teachers. Well one time as we were walking down there we felt someone coming up behind us and both caught sight of a black shadow in the shape of man reach the corner of our eye. We turned around of course, but absolutely no one was down there, so we ran out. When I got the courage, I snuck back down there again and managed to see a black shadow in the shape of a man pass through a window of a locked door. So, being terrified but not wanting to give up our only shelter during rainy lunches, we gave him a name and tried to conquer our terror whenever we caught a glimpse of him. ^_^
