OT here...there's a really good thread on teas & green tea in the Green Room. I'll bump it up for you. I don't think you can roast green tea to make black tea, though. It's a different process altogether.

what do you mean my issue? And I was reamed out a while ago for stating my magickal name was Custosodis, that was back when I was using that name on the boards. I don't remember who it was that yelled at me but they did.

Some people believe you shouldn't reveal your magickal name as given to you by whatever deities you work with, because to do so is to reveal your "true" self. Silly me, I thought my "true" self was more then just my name

This is how I interpreted it: Your magickal name is one which you share with (normally) yourself and the goddess, and no one else. Usually, if u share this name with others, (especially online where this might be the only way of knowing any sorta id for u) if that person wishes to put some sorta spell on u or watever, having them knowing and using ur magickal name could make u more susceptible to it.
That was just my interpretation of what they said. Anyway, ultimately it is up to you whether or not you wish to share this name with others, but it might be a good idea to think it over b4 telling just anyone.

Robert Graves touches on this in 'White Goddess'. in the 'Battle of the Trees' the victor is finally able to defeat his foe only after learning his true name. this is the origin of the 'Rumplestiltskin' fairy tale. all very interesting, and i'm sure quite important on a ceremonial magick level.
but is that really what's being discussed here? i don't think so.
we all have our online names. many of us have 'craft' names that we may use at festivals or within our covens.
but a 'magickal name' is (or should be) a name between you and Spirit. a way of separating your magickal working from the mundane world. this name should be kept secret, but not neccessarily for the reasons mentioned above. if you receive this name at the time of your initiation, then this is part of the oath of secrecy. if it is a name that you gave yourself to enhance your connection to Spirit, then it should be just for that, and is nobody else's business. to frivolously bandy it around the internet removes anything 'special' about it.
i have a magickal name, given to me at the time of my initiation. and NOBODY knows it except me, my Priestess, and whichever Dieties i'm working with. my wife doesn't even know what it is (and this is probably the ONLY thing she doesn't know about me!). it means alot to me. if it were common knowledge, it would mean much less.

That's the distinction some people don't make - there are several types of magickal names. If it's one that exists between you and spirit then it is no one's business. The belief that knowing your "true" name makes it possible to harm you as portrayed in that fictional medium is just that - fiction. You can feasibly curse someone just by concentrating and focusing on them. Heck you can feasibly curse someone (say, an unknown criminal) just by thinking about them without knowing even who they are. Some people may feel "body bits" such as nail clippings or hairs will help set the right vibrations for cursing someone as well, but as far as a magickal name, I think that's just a common myth. In that, if someone thinks it makes them easier to curse someone that might be so, but then if they think they can curse you anyway they can too, so to me it doesn't make a difference.
