During one of my very boring classes today (chemistry :P) I was so bored i thought i'd try something i'd seen in a movie. Anyone here seen the movie "the craft". Well you know that scene where one of the girls puts her finger on the top of her pencil consentrats on it and lets go and it stays up i tried it. I wondering if it was possible and had time to buy. I know movies and all but when i tryed i felt something pushing my pen upwards when i let go it seemed to stay up for a little and then slowly fall down but because of the noise of the class i was unable to keep it up. Has anyone done anything like this before? Tips?

hey there milly!

Well, while I havn't seen the craft (and hollywood can be full of bunk sometimes), it's entirely possible that you did hold that pencil up. From my point of view, anything can be done. And I have seen people move things. . . it really just has to do with how much you've limited your mind (in my opinion). I've known children who could do remarkable things until their parents told them it was impossible. . . then they couldn't do them anymore.

If you think you did it, try it again sometime when you can really concentrate. It could've been a coincidence, but it also could be that you have a talent. Just play with it and see ^_^ it never hurts to try

btw- a lot of people who read this might think I'm leading you into a fantasy. This is just my beliefs, and they could be wrong or differ from others. So listen to everyone's hehe But if you belive in it, go ahead and try! :)

Is telekinesis/psychokinesis one of those things you are born with, or can 'anyone' develop it?
Or is that a stupid question?

Not to sound harsh, but is it possible that you were letting the movie influence you? As in, maybe what you thought was the pen spinning or whatever was just a trick of light or something?

Sorry for raining on the parade; I guess I've just seen one too many posts about people watching one movie or reading one book and then suddenly finding all these "powers" and talents.

:)

I personally believe that anything is possible. And I mean anything. I also believe that some come more naturally to some things than others. (Or maybe it's just that some are more ready to believe? Who know?) I think it's all about will, concentration, and belief.

Just my thoughts...

IMO, psychic ability is like singing ability. Some people are gifted with perfect pitch, it comes naturally to them. Some, if they work and train hard, can become good, but not great. Most can become at least somewhat competent if they apply themselves, even if they never go further than singing around a campfire. And a few will never be able to carry a tune in a bucket, no matter how hard they try.

So keep trying! Challenging our limitations and pre-conceptions is ALWAYS a good thing, even if we don't get the desired results, we've learned something about ourselves inthe effort and practice.

Aengus

Ditto. Yes *anything* is possible, given the right circumstances and environment. I could also change my hair colour magickally or conjure up a car but there's no reason to. I'm not saying you're lying but I can't imagine why that would work let alone suggest how to do it again.

Myst, telekinesis IS psychic ability, by definition. As is telepathy, ESP, clairvoyance, psychometry, precognition, etc. :eyebrow:
(sorry for the raised eybrow, but I just HAD to use that smiley:D)

Actually, it depends on your definition Aengus. To some there's a difference; but that's not what this thread is about :)

Funny enough, that was a trick we all tried in grade school. I'm talking waaaay before The Craft. We all tried standing a pencil on its point. Not one of us were able to do it. It wasn't because it was magic, psychic abilities or what have you. It seemed like a cool trick to try, stemming from mostly boredom. There would be a point where you almost achieve perfect balance but the pencil always fell down.
