View Full Version : An honest question

I'm hoping this question does not start any trouble, but I really do have an honest question that I need to ask. I'm new here and I have only posted a couple of times, I do lurk a lot and read though. My question is this:
Does anyone know of ANY pagan boards where those of the Christian faith do not frequent? I have become very fond of this board but I find it hard to understand why no matter where I go, there's always those of the Christian faith posting all over pagan boards. I find it disconcerting to say the least. I, like others of ALL faiths, have very strong views of God and my religion. I am AM NOT bashing Christianity! I fully understand that there is good and bad in ALL religions. Its simply that there is such heated opposite beliefs between MOST Pagans and Christians. I also understand that this board is open to all who follow the rules, so I reiterate that I am simply asking an honest questions. Does anyone know of ANY pagan boards where those of the Christian faith do not frequent? Thanks guys!
Blessings

Here's a list of Pagan boards (http://www.witchvox.net/links/net_chat.html) from Witchvox. I'm sure you can find a board that suits if you look.
That being said, I need to say that one of the things that attracted me to this board was the intelligent, respectful dialog between folk of different beliefs. Sure, I've seen individuals get their feathers ruffled, but for the most part, I've witnessed an incredibly rich inter-faith dialogue here. That is one of the best ways to wisdom, compassion, and true understanding, IMO.
We generally fear and hate what we don't understand, what we see as "other". The more we communicate with each other, whatever our individual paths, the more we understand, and the less we fear. And the less we fear, the more room in our lives for love.

What makes me laugh about this is that here at MW easily 99% of the "arguments" and "debates" are between Pagans and/or about Pagan issues and don't even include Christian beliefs vs Pagan or Christian people against Pagan, etc.

Thank you all so much for your reply! I have nothing against those of other faiths, its just that I have never been to a board shared by both Pagans and Christians, that I wasn't constantly being told that I an going to hell, I worship Satan, you MUST be reborn...you all know the drill! Perhaps I'll read more throughout the Theology boards and perhaps post.....
Again, thank you all for replying to me!

Lady V -
I couldn't help notice you are from Louisville. I used to live in the Highlands, but am now further East in La Grange. Perhaps we could hook up! I have some pgan friends, if you are interested in finding like faith peeps.
Oh . . . and I used to be on a couple other Pagan boards, but they either disbanded or joined together with other groups.
Blessed be,

I lived near Bellarmine in a 4-plex on Norris Place, then moved down the road to Deer Park. This is way cool! Privately email me and perhaps we could hook up.:sunny:

LadyV, that kind of bashing of any path - christian or otherwise - is discouraged here. I find that the christians on this board are very accepting of us.

maybe a good idea for a new section? Something not general like Pagan, but more specific? There's so many sections here already though, maybe just a matter of finding the right one. I know where you're coming from though, it sounds like something my girlfriend would say :p

i'm not really any help here.
I can understand that you may not be interested in hearing from those that do not follow your path...
but then good luck... since i've never met two pagans with the same set of beliefs.
personally, i seek to learn about all religions, and i am the most un-religious person i know. so what if people dont' believe what i do? so what if people don't like my path? and who am I to judge who is right or wrong?
i'm not saying that you are saying these things.
i just think that opening your mind to their concepts might help you understand them better, even if you don't agree with them. Just because they choose to ignore our paths, or learn about other religions, doesn't mean that two wrongs will somehow make a right if we also ignore them too.
this board has its conflicts and stuff... but i think it's rare to find this many people of different faiths interacting.

I like the whole Christian vs Pagan topics. It helps see different sides of the paths. I guess some people can't handle it or just get frustrated. As long as you have a Pagan board I think Christians are going to come and that's only because what type of Pagan board isn't going to let people come and post what the want as long as it isn't harmful. During my time here on the board I haven't seen one post that I think was aimed to harm me and my beliefs.

Personally I've never seen a Christian at a Pagan message board who was totally preachy, and evangelistic. I like to get their perspective as well, and its sometimes refreshing to see what some of the more open-minded Christians think about religion in general.

Now, can anybody tell me of a board, where there are pagans and christians fighting.
While I do not intend to freak out in battles with them, it is interesting to observe though.
Post some links.
Promise, I won't leave you, nomatter how much you want to:D:D:D:D:D
