Wow. I don't know if it counts but I think my mom and I have the same ability to see spirits, but I think that's about it. No use in asking my dad, he doesn't believe in anything he can't read about in a textbook. Still cool topic to bring up though.

Well seeing & feeling spirits is pretty common place in our family so much so that growing up I thought everyone could.
Also, something I believe that has been handed down from my grandmother is the ability to "feel". I do think my budding (or just starting to give them a name) empathic abilities come from my grandmother, my mother has them as well. We were always called "too sensitive", but there's a difference. Since I'm the one who talks about it the most, we didn't really know we were all going through the same thing. Also, my mom's isn't as strong or as controlled as my grandma's or mine is.

Premonitions stem from that too i think. Once I saw a vision appear while having lunch; it was a girl being chased around a kitchen island with a knife. I thought to warn my sister because the girl was about her age -though faceless- and her father had a history of physical abuse. The next day she tells me her friend was taken by child services because the night before she was chased by her father with a knife.
This is a gift my sisters and most of the women in my family carry, but since most of them are Christian and believe that to have visions is "evil" and "not of god" they don't talk about it.

hmm. well i can only think of a few gifts that i KNOW OF to be 'in the family' - because my family is pre-dominately christian/catholic and only a rare few who used to be pagans (even though they dont know i know this!) all the women in my family, -which seems to be pre-dominately women... only recently was there a male born into the family. normally they have to be married in LOL. and this lil guys only about 1 year old. anyways, all the women in my family have been able to see spirits, and make contact with them on a different pane, although most of the cases i know of were not intentional. the attraction thingy ^^ also runs in my family lol. not that we are ugly and that it is this gift is what makes us attractive, i will be the first to admit that i have an extremely attractive family. but us women seem to have that 'special something' = p

now as for me... i never really felt at home at church. didnt agree fully with a lot of what i was being preached to or how it was being done, i always knew i was pagan. i have had precognitive dreams all my life, and visions, which happen much more often. there was one time when i had a vision of heaven when i was a little younger, and then i looked up the description in the bible and it was 100% identical to its description - and this includes HIGH detail. unfortunately, the last 'big' precog vision/dream that i had was bout my friends death, which happened almost two years ago.

i dont know what exactly you could call this, but i have always been able to make happen what i want as well. ill get this idea in my head, and ill know the outcome that i want to happen. so ill focus on it non stop.. and eventually, it will happen. this is the same with 'swaying' people. i dont mean to do it intentionally (most of the time) but if i want someone to agree to something really badly, or i want them to contact me, or whatever, i can make it happen.

my cousin greg (may he rest in peace) used to experiment with AP. now i know what it is, but i have never really been able to quite figure out the difference between AP, remote viewing, remote presence, so i dont really know how to tag this one. but i have the ability to 'dream walk' on people too. it can be done during your sleep or whilest you are awake. the first time i tried it i dream walked on my friend in michigan - i had never been to his house. i even moved some stuff around lol *heeheh* next day i talked to him, i told him what his room looked like exactly the way that it is, and i told him what side he had been sleeping on, where things were located, and what he was now missing because of me lol. (it was just a DVD case, but it was still fun = p )

now i dont know why this happens, but it can be kinda scary sometimes. ghosts, or spirits seems to be rather attracted to me. i dont know why.. and the majority of the time it is a very unhappy spirit... it does not make for pleasant encounters. a lot of the time it will happen if i just happen to go to a place or location where something tragic happened, and i will pick up on the energies (i am highly empathic... i used to be chastized when i was younger for being 'too sensitive' as well, but its not what they were thinking at all) and then before i know it, i have a second shadow. they have even followed me over to my familys houses before and scared the crap out of other people (including very small children)

anyways, i could babble on.. but yeah. i am nothing short of 'gifts' if you wish to call them that. i think you get the point though! = p

Cool beans, you guys. ^^

Well I don't think my pack is ugly, though they themselves would disagree. I think its pretty awesome, like this once me, my mom and my brother were fishing by the river and some guy just pulls up -on his scooter, right on the freakin dock- and starts a conversastion with my mom at like 2am. So many things like that happen its almost funny. Sometimes I can't tell if the guy/girl I'm dating really likes me or if they're just falling under the whole hoo-hah family thing..

My mum's family have a strong line of psychics and mediums (or both like me). Most of us have telepathic ability between us (and sometimes its extends to friends) -to be honest I gained quite a few ability from my family - I knew plenty about the lore of nature as a child, but thats because I was told

So who knows if it "runs" in the family as such or its just because it was "taught" to us a child.

Having said that my grandparents on my dad's side (who had died 10 years before I was born) turned up in quite an amazng physically way when I was born (well my grandad was there during the pregnancy, my grandma turned up when I was 10 days old and held me in her arms). So either they were very gifted, or something strange went on.

So its possible both side were gifted

 well I do attract some strange people to me -so who knows

But they did say stuff that tied in with it being my grandparents.....and my dad was so shocked when my grandma turned up (his mother) he refused to get out the car (My "grandparents" worked in a local shop so he could see her through the window before he got out the car). They also "left the area" afterwards according to the "new" people who owned the shop.

So whatever it was does seem bizare to say they least

Yes, pretty much. (I'm slightly reluctant to discuss it for various reasons, but that's pretty much what it boils down to.)

Beginning in my early teens, I began having certain "knowings" out of the blue. It began with knowing when people were pregnant - *long* before the woman herself even knew it, in some cases. Then I started knowing whether the baby would be male or female.

A few years passed, and then something started which can only be described as "remembering things I never knew." The sensation is just like remembering a forgotten event, except that I'd be "remembering" something that had not yet happened, or something that was currently happening but I couldn't know about due to distance, or just not being privy to certain information. It always seems to be scary things - wars and so forth, or political situations; some types of corruption and certain things going on behind the scenes; meetings that I'm not present to hear; other things.

It became severe to the point that I had to pray repeatedly and basically beg God to make it stop because I couldn't handle it, and eventually, I finally prayed for the right thing <g> (I realized that God had a certain will for my life, and so to work with Him rather than against Him, I needed to take His wisdom into consideration. So I said to Him, "I'm still having trouble understanding this and coping with it - so *if it is your will* - please help me to deal with it, or please give me enough knowledge so that I understand why I'm experiencing whatever situation as it occurs." Soon, the premonitions were more controlled and I was given more information each time, so I was able to see the significance. It was much less chaotic.)

Well, I really didn't *want* this to happen anymore, and when I became a mother, I tried to ignore it and pretend it away. When my daughter (IrishDancer is her name here at MW) was born, things were fairly calm - but around the time that she was three or four, it was quite extreme. I didn't talk to anyone about how much it bothered me, and I kept the majority of things to myself unless I sensed danger or something. (I had some biggies in that way.)

When my daughter became a teenager - *wham* - it was happening to **her** - and she was thinking she was crazy or that it was all just a big coincidence that kept happening over and over again <s>. For a while, I was chalking it up to coincidence, and even "comforting" her by saying things like, "Oh, yeah, that's happened to me before! It's nothing! It just SEEMS very psychic, but really, it's a coincidence. You probably knew about that because of <fill in the blank with whatever I could think of at the moment.>" But after a couple of years (with her premonitions etc. becoming even stronger), she was saying, "Face it, Mom, this is just how we are."

And I'd generally say, "That's not how *I* am."

I just didn't want to deal with it.

I know people here disagree with me on this (at least some do), but I *do* see it written in scripture that various practices of witchcraft are not allowed for Christians - so for that reason, I personally don't engage in casting spells etc., and I'm not a witch anyway. ***BUT*** - I see **nothing** in scripture having to do with a person having "psychic abilities" that come upon them without any warning or without any intentional "doing." So, I see no condemnation and no condoning of it, either. This makes it very difficult for me because often I feel a sense of guilt... and yet I know that I'm really probably just worrying too much. After all, obviously God gave me this for a reason, and He gave it to my daughter for a reason.

What's interesting (and I've not yet talked to my daughter about this, so it will be interesting to see what she says if she sees this thread) is that since my daughter "got it" when she was an early teen (and now she's about to turn 20!)... it seems that with *both* of us having "active" abilities (whether they're properly termed 'psychic' abilities or whatever they're considered)... it seems that it just gets worse (stronger. LOL - but I think of it as 'worse' because it stresses me out.) I wonder sometimes if we're somehow doing something that 'enhances' each other. (The level of information and the frequency is to the point of ridiculousness now, and has become a part of the daily routine. One or both of us is always 'getting' something.)

My daughter has also said that she thinks maybe there's witchcraft far back in our family line, so maybe that explains it; however, from what I recall, it's not something that can be passed in the blood - but, speaking from my own experience, these abilities sure SEEM to be hereditary. I mean, my daughter had it happen to her at the **EXACT** age that I was when I first started having these experiences. She has basically followed an identical 'route' so I'm not surprised at all as I watch these abilities develop. It just reminds me of myself.

Let me just stress one more time: we're not *doing* anything; we don't do anything to make such experiences happen; there's no divination going on; nothing like that. I'm talking about a purely impromptu thing, totally out of the clear blue sky. I can't "bring it on" (although about a week ago, I found out that if I'm holding an object, frequently I know the history of that object and significant events connected with it. That was a surprise.)

So - yes, this does seem to be a family thing.

^ you seem to dislike it in a way, just something i noticed, because there are people in my family (women) who dont particularly care for it either.

there are times when i have really been stressed because of my 'gifts', but i have come to love them, truly. they make me feel special *fuzzies* = p

When I was about 4 my grandma began to recognize things about me. I have been given the same gifts that she possessed. She said her grandmother had them as well. Perhaps they do get passed down thru the family.I am glad she recognized them as it was a scary time for me and I scared my parents a many a times telling them things before they happened or who was calling on the phone before it rang etc.I have the gift of sight, empathy, healing, and several psychic abilities.I have very strong divination skills and an uncanny affinity with tarot cards.

heh. your lucky you had someone in your family who accepted that kind of thing, and helped you with it. me, i had to discover everything on my own. dont get me wrong, i was and surely am still curious enough to figure things out lol - i just wish i had someone there at the time.

not to mention that 'curiosity' can lead to burned fingers when it comes to this sort of thing = p

I'm adopted so i really don't know. But I have alot of strong abilities ( that i can't control well at all). If I have physical cantact and eye contact with someone, I can pretty much tell what there feeling and where they are at will. ( Alot of times if they feel an extreme emotion even if there thousands of miles away i'll feel them without thinking about it.)

My sister has some which she chose to refuse ( I feel bad about that because its pretty much my fault.) and I really feel that my birthmother probably had something.
