he came to my door around 2:30 last night. i noticed his paws were pink so i checked them out. i pressed the pad to puch out his nail and IT WASN'T THERE. none of them were. just black holes full of pus. it REEKED like a dead animal. my friend and i soaked his feet in medicine and kept him overnight. i took him to the vet this morning, who put him on antibiotics. he has no i.d. or microchip, but his neck has the imprint of a collar where the hair is crimped. i am going to put an ad in the paper. he slept in bed with me last night, even though he is filthy i let him, because he is sick. he's extremely friendly and cute.
the vet said he did not think someone did this to him. he thought it happened while he was being chased and tried to climb up something. cat has a slight fever, but isn't dehydrated. he is eating and drinking, but not as much as i would expect for a cat his size (11 lbs).
i gave him a full bath and soaked his paws again. the gunk is gone, and a few are bleeding a little. at least the blood will push the infection out.
poor little guy!!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKK! I am soooo hoping this was a natural occurance! and that he heals quickly. I love myself some cats...unacceptable if this was done on purpose....but anyway, sending heal kitty energy! :huddle:

OMG, poor kitty! That must have been very painful. It's good that he is eating. Hope he heals quickly. It is wonderful that he found someone who cares enough to take care of him! _catroll_ <--HAPPY KITTY! _pounce_

Poor little one, I hope he gets better,
I find that tea tree oil is very good for wounds on cats, they don't like it but it helps healing no end

Maybe you could keep the cat?
It seems to like you.

POOORR CAT!
I hope it was no human to have done that to him! (i dont know where u live but in italy cat declawing is illegal)
But he is eating, if a cat eats it means he should be well again, so even if he eats little dont worry, maybe it could even be he is not eating much beacause he was used to other food or likes something else. Maybe you can try different types of food and see wich one he rathers.

The poor thing. **frowns in sympathy** I'm glad you were there to care for it and take it to the vet.
You have my sympathy about the stench, too. Cat pus is one of the more revolting odors in the universe.

Aww, the poor guy. Could you keep him in till you either find his family or till you can find him a permanent home? Good luck. Sending energy your way.

Sorry your kitty had such a tough time, but I'm glad he's getting better. He's lucky to have had such a caring and compassionate person find him and take care of him.
