Evil? No. All that is in Creation is considered good... well, until they do something evil or are inclined to do something evil, but only humans are generally moralists in one way or another. It's hard to be "evil" when by absolute nature you are amoral and survive simply to go by basic instincts.

Moths are sweet. I know some people have a phobia about them but I'm not one.
The only insect that I'd happily exterminate is the cat flea (and my cats thoroughly agree with that...)

No as Moths and many other Butterfly species are becoming endangered species due to pesticide use on farmland, lack of wild meadowland and also wild flowers in peoples gardens.

Um, no. Cockroaches keep themselves cleaner than people. They don't carry disease unless they've been in disease carrying substances already present in the location where they live. So unless you fail to flush the toilet or clean the litter box frequently enough, they DON"T carry disease. They are just a sign that that the house they're in, the environment outside, OR A NEIGHBOR'S house or apartment is filthy and they can get food there.
But the idea that they carry disease is an ABSOLUTE MYTH unless that disease is already present in the envionment in question. In which case the only way to get rid of them is to get rid of what is attracting them. Unfortunately if it's a neighbor that is causing the problem, there's not much you can do.
And in answer to the thread, no. There are no evil animals. There are occasionally animals tortured by people that turn on people, but they weren's evil to start with. Any other damage is them just trying to survive. And frankly if we're talking in terms of damage to the environment being evil....well....then I can think of one species that stands out above all others, as destruction seems to be the main thing the human race as a whole excels in.
Meh, apologies for my cynicism, it seems to be far more acive than usual these days.

moths? Evil? Pah. they're really quite purdy. the only times that i have ever found them to be the least bit evil (as in just plain irritating!) is at night when you are carrying some form of light and they fly smack into your face and swarm around you as if you were fly paper = . =
Yesh, that is quite annoying.
other than that, i think they're peachy keen.

Nothings inherently evil in the bug world, they are just doing their jobs. However, at my house arachnids have very very short lifespans. Scorpions and spiders of any kind die the second I see them. But they aren't evil, just a serious threat to my health. Moths get placed outside.

I think some moths are quite beautiful, like the Cecropia and Luna moths, for example.
Since so many people mentioned spiders, I just had to share; I don't kill spiders (we don't have poisonous ones here) and I've only been bitten a couple of times. After biting me, the spiders promptly curled up and died. _inabox_

Yes I am AWARE that cockroaches keep themselves extremely clean - which is ironically how we kill them primarily. NOW, cockroaches come in through sewers and neighbors houses/yard who DO NOT necessarily have the same standards that you or I would. I have been innundated with them after a neighbor moved out. Therefore, how can it be an ABSOLUTE MYTH if the disease is present IN their environment? THEY DO CARRY DISEASE AND OTHER THINGS since the environment most of them live in is not clean. Do they get the disease? NO. Obviously this is where you were confused. I was not saying that they get the disease but that they CARRY it (on their legs and bodies along with the pesticides/insecticides we put down for them). Would I want coackroaches in MY environment? NO, not because I think they are evil or pestilent but because it signals a not too clean environment. Not to mention the fact that I am allergic to them.
Keeping your own environment clean is a good way to ensure they don't enter your home but as you said, you can't police your neighbors. I personally use alcohol (rubbing) on roaches or ants because it evaporates quickly and doesn't ruin the environment. The ants I kill because there are usually just so many that relocation doesn't work. Other insects (bees spiders, etc I relocate)
P.S. I am getting really tired of people telling me that this or that keeps themselves cleaner than people. I for one shower at least twice a day and wash my hands frequently since I work in a college and come in contact with lots of people.
It would seem that I am getting a little cynical myself. And by the way, why in the world did you attack me? I have done nothing to you but state a point. Obviously I must have left some small loophole for you to seize on, but really I would thought the difference between "carry" and "have" the disease and such was obvious.
This is not intended to offend anyone.

Cockroaches!!! The flying kind!!! Wood roaches, I think they're called. I was terrorized by these little beasts as a child, and I am deathly afraid of them!!! They may not be essentially evil, but anything that can live for a week with no head does not have a soul. They are more like living machines, and that is NOT good, in my book. Some people probably love them, though. :ggrief:

Ew! Ew! Eewwww! Oh my goodness, I am SO sorry. My son ate a cricket when he was about a year and a half. I had to dig it out of his mouth. That was bad enough. I'm just really, really sorry.
I want to ask more questions about this, but I'm going to refrain.

I don't think moths are evil. When I was a kid living in GA I loved looking at the window screens and seeing the luna moths resting there. I thought they were really beautiful.
Spiders get squished on contact with a shoe or tissue. No way am I touching those things. I actually killed a brown recluse at work. I was washing my hands one day and lo and behold here he comes walking across the mirror. ICK! I figured better to kill it than risk having it bite someone.
Anything with more than four legs gets squished if it comes in my house. We live in FL, which I would say is the bug capitol of the world! The most common bugs where I live are roaches, spiders, carpenter ants, and mosquitoes. The area we live in is heavily wooded, so even if your house is immaculate, you'll still get bugs when you open the doors and windows. Having a small child, I don't want to take a chance that those things are going to procreate in my home, especially bugs that bite.
We also have literally hundreds of those little green and brown lizards running around and I would love to have them in my house because they eat bugs, but unfortunately the cats think they make a tastey snack!
OK, sorry for my novel.

it's besides the point... but I don't watch any movies ;) ... heh...
I'm trying to put it like this... maybe the moth itself is not out to get me....but.... do any evils associate themselves with moths in any way shape or form? ... like for example doves are a symbol of peace, ... I'm not saying the moths themselves are evil... or even if it isn't moths, since you love those things so much, could ANY animal be a sign or a symbol or tool of communication or victim or anything at all related to anything evil....
but could they symbolize it? if not, what could they symbolize ... I'm not bashing moths because they eat clothes... it's just so many real witches and psychics I know are very superstitious about moths, and apparently they're only really around when something bad is happening... so maybe there is an evil spirit around that just likes moths or uses them to travel with ... or maybe everyone's just crazy

It depends a lot on how you look at things.
If anything is a direct threat to your livelyhood and survival you should assess the danger and deal with it pragmatically. If it's not, you should think about it's place and role in the cycle of life. :p

not that i know of... except, as i said, in the bible, there is a brief reference to moths. i'll see if i can dig it up, but needless to say, i don't give much credit to what's in the bible. then recently i saw a picture of a cave painting in utah called "moth and owl man". but he didn't look very evil either. ... like for example doves are a symbol of peace, ... I'm not saying the moths themselves are evil... or even if it isn't moths, since you love those things so much, could ANY animal be a sign or a symbol or tool of communication or victim or anything at all related to anything evil....
yeah, i understand. again... not in my world view.
but could they symbolize it? if not, what could they symbolize ...
well... to me, they symbolize a dark soul striving for light. to others they symbolize super-empathy. and they have the same metamorphic symbology as the butterfly. and this i just read, which is interesting
The Navaho Indians associate both moths and butterflies with insanity with much written about the equation of insanity and acting like a moth by jumping into the fire ('moth-crazy') which is said to result from sexual excess, breaking restrictions, and the like.
"All of our informants agreed that moths and butterflies, especially moths, are very dangerous; that if the setae get into food or water and are swallowed they are extremely poisonous, and will cause insanity and a desire to jump into the fire like a moth." "If you get the powder on you or in your eye, go loco like loco weed." "Contact with the powder from moth's wings will cause persons to commit clan incest; 'sisters and brothers marry, they crazy, jumps in fire." "This material may also be used as love magic; 'put it on girls to make them crazy over you."

here's more from that website:
Death, Omen of Death
Death is symbolized by many aspects of lepidoptera. In Maryland, if a white butterfly enters your house and flies around you, it foretells death. In some parts of the country, if a moth lands on the mother of a newborn child, that child will soon die. Italian-Americans view the appearance of a moth in their home as a sign of the impending death of someone they know.
There is a moth in Europe called the Death's Head Sphinx Moth. It represents death to many Europeans because of the clear outline of a skull on its back. Salvador Dali made use of this symbol in an interpretation of a Currier and Ives print, "The Life of a Fireman."
There are numerous other examples of lepidoptera symbolizing death. It is said if a caterpillar measures your entire length or girth you will die. Samoans felt if they captured a butterfly it meant they would be struck dead. In Brunswick, if the first butterfly spotted in spring is a white one, it was an omen of death. The Celts believed that seeing a butterfly flying at night meant death. i wonder if they meant moths, and didn't differenciate between the two? The chrysalis or pupal stage symbolizes death in Christian art.
