Okay, I'm sooo hoping no one else posted this, I have that nasty habit of doing such things. It's a cute little quiz I found about being a witch. I'm mad though, I only scored 7 out of 10!!! booo!!!!!

Well.. i wouldn't take any of the answers as unargueably true because it's a pop-culture view and just about everything about witch history is debatable.

i particularly note the question about the number of witches killed in the burning times. The quiz gives the correct number as being between 50,000 and 100,000. That's a very controversial figure. Some people will only count witch burnings for which there is an existing written record, totally ignoring the illiterate tenure of the times and the fact that a lot of records didn't survice.

The fact that the record of the greatest number of witch burnings is in the Germanies just might come from the reality that people in that part of the world put a greater emphasis on record keeping and preserving. No one knows for sure how many people were burned... because they weren't all witches... heretics were also men, and either gender of the Roma, gays, Jews, Muslims, Protestants, Catholics... it's a pretty long list.

And also... "witches" are still burned and snoned and otherwise killed in many countries today.

So getting back to the quiz... it was interesting as a pop-culture view of witches... but i could make up just as superficial and silly a one about Christians.. or politicians... or... :)
