Ok. Do we need to expand our topics?

Do we need to consolidate?

What topics?

You know what I want. Lets hear some suggestions...

God, I hate pop quizzes. :D

Was trying to think of what I have at MY board (now dead, I think) ... and can't think.

You could consolidate the just talk and new pagan boards. They both serve the same functions as far as I can tell.

Maybe you could add a new forum for news events and current affairs. But yeah, the Just Talk and New Pagans forums could be consolidated.

Niamh

I agree with Dextra; something for news and current events.

mol
March 17th, 2001, 03:19 PM
What news and current events are we talking about here?

And on the consolidation of New Pagans and Just Talk. Originally, New Pagans was supposed to be a place that 'New' Pagans could go and post questions...etc.

I think that perhaps New Pagans and the teen forum would go better together than new pagans and Just talk.

I actually posted in Pagan Teens about closing that forum because:

A. I think segregation of age is wrong. I didnt think about it when I created the forum.

B. No one is really discussing anything in there any more.

We've been discussing the high school shooting, the suicide... I suppose we're discussing more political issues than news and current events when I really think about it!

Um... What about New Pagans who aren't teens?

Kaylara

I think that if we just keep the title new pagans, but have it as the teen forum as well it would work... It's not only the teens who post in the teen forum... Just a thought.

Now that would work!

The thing is...teens are just as much a part as this community as adult, etc. Most of the teens here dont even post in the Teen forum! Thats why I say we should probably just move the posts in there around to other forums.

Good point ... and it will help the rest of us also, in more ways than one can imagine.

I agree with Mol, segregation of age is not the way to go. Actually, I think more teens would get involves if they were treated as adults. I know I would have when I was a teen.

However, Just Talk and New Pagans, in my humble opinion, should not be consolidated.

I agree with Rantnraven, keep Just Talk and New Pagans separate. And I like the idea of a News and Current Affairs forum, although Just Talk seems to be doing that job too at the moment...as for teens *shrug* teen forums are necessary at boards where they're ignored or harrassed by older members, which fortunately isn't an issue here.

A completely agree with that. I have not seen any harassment here - well, minimal but in fun. This community is expanding but, I think the older members have a general understanding and are just as willing to take as they are to give advice to/from the teen members or, otherwise.

What about teens who aren't new pagans? At the very least, I'd consider myself beyond the rank of beginner... but I am 17 (have been Pagan for over 4 years).

i am not suggesting the merging of Pagan Teens and New Pagans.

I am suggesting getting rid of the 'Teen' specific forum because...well...the teens belong everywhere on the board and in this Community just as anyone else. The wa it is now, it almost seems like we are trying to segregate.

Would you like to elaborate on that. Being 17, your opinion carries much weight.

Please share, further, your thoughts.

I concur. If we are to segregate, then we should have a forum of 20+, 30+, ect.

This IS a cummunity designed for ALL to share.

Great words, Mol.

We should make a forum with "petition" style meanings. What I mean is like the post to Tempest's mother that mol is going to print out and send. For example we could send one to Scalia to express our views on why he is wrong about the constitutional amendments. This could be used for a variety of issues that we could speak out about. I think that this could be the way we as a community could "fight" back. We are always looking for a way to do things as a community to voice our opinions. This could be the way.

dont add any more forums, it is getting over loaded!!!!!!!
i don't think we need the Teen forum, even though i'm the moderator ;)
too many forums would convuse me even more, just get rid of the teen forum (in a nice way) but don't add one in it's place.

I know that we have discussed this before, (no not the chat room!!!) but it never went anywhere. What about a page of banners...not on the board page but a separate one that you had to choose to view. That way we could generate a little cash flow...however small it may be. We could pick a designated charity to which we would donate the funds once they reach a certain amount and then create a card from all of the community.. similar to the sympathy card. Then send them off in the name of the community. And no I don't think it should be only pagan charities or causes that we donate to. What better way to foster acceptance and understanding then to open our hearts, arms, and pocketbooks to the general population. Any thoughts on this? I just think this would be the way to do it without taking away from the community and without having to reach into our own pockets. We all benefit from the community... isn't it time we shared the wealth so to speak?

I like this idea, Semele! But I never did understand how it works. Is there software that companies use to figure out where hits are coming from so that they know they are coming from here?

Niamh,

There is a thing on the internet refered to as an affilition. When you click on the link, the web site is informed of what site initiated the interest. Some pay per "click-through" while others pay a percent of the overall puchase.

Semele, Is this what you were talknig about? Affiliations?

Semele

Yes, I suppose so, although there are some that pay so much per "impression", meaning anytime their add is seen in a rotation, and then so much more per click through. We had actually made a little money from add banners on another sight Mol was doing. He is the expert at this stuff so we will have to have him gather all the details and make a presentation to the community.
