I was in a bookstore yesterday, and the owner used the shop's cat to mark his place in a book! He was reading, then he sat the book down on the table with the spine facing down. Then he plopped the kitty on the open book and told it to sit still! Poor cat! Is that mean or what? Then, later on, he kept reading the book with the kitty still on it, and kept ordering it to lift its paw every time he wanted to turn the page!

I've never known of a cat to follow orders before. Usually they look at you as if to say "you're joking, right?"
At least he didn't use it as a bookmark in the conventional sense. :whatgives

Sounds like he was showing off.
I knew a guy who spent many months teaching his cat tricks.

The cat was called Spaz.
We used to look at him and say, "Spaz, speak!" , the cat would ALWAYS meow back to you.
He also trained Spaz to do all kinds of tricks.
Like 'fetch', Spaz would get a ping-pong ball, you throw it and he brought it back to you.

I don't know how a cat and person has that kind of patience. :foh:

my kitty does that anyway.
I can't read anything at home without him lying on it.
Reading comics in the floor? Forget about it.

lol. I've never heard of anything so wild before! All my kitty likes to do is lick my face and disturb me while I'm on the PC. lol.

I wish I could do that! If I read anything at the table my cat will always plop itself down on
on the book or newspaper. At least the cat is being useful while getting attention. I think it shows uncommon partnership between owner and cat.

I dunno, I think it sounds cute! I wish my cat could do that. He's jealous of my books and aways tries to push them away with his face when I'm reading.

Our newest kitten is quite fascinated with the computer. He plops himself down in front of the screen so I can't see. He's also fond of grabbing my fingers and biting them when I'm trying to type! Good thing I love the little devil....

I think that's hilarious. If that cat didn't look like they didn't want to do it, then you could say that's a different story. :)

Well,my kitty is really agresive, and was constantly biting my hand and running and jumping on me,she scratches rather hard as well,so,yesterday I put ducktape on her paws, ohh she didnt like it,but I left it on for 2 hours. My kitty is a different kitty, she has been humbled, now she doesnt attack me anymore and I can reach out and pick her up without being attacked, unfortunatly,no one else can touch her.I felt bad about having to do that, but it works rather well for training wild cats,it works.

Once I done this to a wild cat and everytime I picked her up,she hissed and growled at me and when she did I put a hotdog in her mouth. She eventually stopped growling at me,It took about 2 weeks to tame her.2 weeks of ducktape on her paws.

Incase anyone is thinking of ductape,it must be only one piece folded over so it can be removed easily. You cant wrap her paws up, only cover the claws, not the whole foot, its protection from claws that is the reason for it.So,a small piece covering the claws only will do.I used a blanket and welder gloves for the kitty I pulled out of a hole in the ground, she was all wet,but when she dried off,OMG,she was totally wild.

So,wild kittys can be trained to put up with you,it takes time, gentleness and patience.

That's not cruel. It's what the cat wants to do. They say you can't train a cat, but this is untrue. You can train a cat to do anything that it wants to let you train it to do. Remember that in a training situation with a cat, the cat is the one in control. They're not like dogs.

I had a cat that was not the smartest kitty in the world and she used to poop in my shower and it drove me nuts. One morning while I was getting ready for work she did it so I picked it up with some toilet paper and dropped it in the toilet and said why cant you just do it here. No joke after that she never pooped in the bath tub and when she felt like it she would go in the toilet. She managed to keep all four paws in the front and balance her butt over the toilet. She was really really not smart but so sweet and maybe closet smart lmao any way thats my funny kitty story.

Those are two very cute kitty stories (wish my cat would poo in the toilet!)!

All my kitten has learned to do is attack the bookmark I already use. LOL Let alone become the bookmark itself! She loves the tassles!

A cat that keeps still and stays where you put it? Bugger me...

Mind you, cats will _always_ sit on a piece of paper (the same way that they will _always_ sniff something you point at them).

Personally, I just think they read with their bums.
