I have to agree it is interesting that she felt the need to say that. However, I dont think she meant it to make her sound the way it did.I think she just meant to be helpful.

But by coming into a GLBT thread just to say, "Hey, it was world AIDS day, and you need to practice safe sex"..made it seem a little like the old saying "AIDS is a gay disease." Which we all know is very much not.

However, Im not offended..hehe. Just found it... interesting as Mirthrea said. And I know it wasnt directed hostiley at all. It was meant as a friendly comment, just wasnt...very politically correct.. I guess..hehehe.

. . . or that being glbt means that you have more sex or your primary focus is sex. Cassie, I tried to find where you reminded the rest of the board, ie., the straight members of MW to practice safe sex because it was National AIDS awareness day and couldn't. To single us out, is ignorant at best, offensive at it's worst. I agree with Purr that you probably didn't mean to offend, but the fact that this happened shows that we do need a support thread, and at the same time, I feel like our support thread was invaded a little, like even here we aren't safe from it. That's just my opinion. I'm sure others will be able to shrug it off. I could not.

"The Triple Goddess as Maiden, Mother and Crone, is a relatively new concept which was made popular during the 20th century. Hekate is today most often equated to the Crone aspect of this triplicate archetypal image, but this idea of Hekate as Crone Goddess is one which would have been completely alien to the people of ancient Greece. The only possible explanation for the continued association today is that somehow the darker, scarier aspects of Hekate has been equated to wisdom in old age, which is, when you think about it rather ludicrous." -- Sorita D'Este. Well, I was just browsing through and I didn't really pick up on that. I don't think Cassie meant any harm. What I did pick up was that david seemed ready to jump the gun (I know how you feel david )... I just didn't want him to forget a condom!

Well firstly I appologise for any offense caused, none was intended.
Actually I responded to David's post when it came up on "New Posts" without taking note of which forum it was in. I was primarily intending to offer support and encouragement to him.

It so happened that this occured the day after World Aids Day, a cause which is very close to my heart fo many reasons. Since David made it clear he was more than eager to become sexually active, I thought the safe sex message was worth re-stating. I would have said the same to anyone, regardless of their sexuality.

Thare were 2 threads about World Aids Day and I contributed to both of them.

While I don't think I have posted much in this thread, I have made no secret of the fact that I am bisexual elsewhere on the board. Perhaps I have not posted much about that in this thread because I do not wish to be defined by my sexuality.
As you said Mithrea, being anywhere in the glbt spectrum does not mean your primary focus is sex.

I was not singling any group out, I was responding to an individual.

As I said, I didn't think you meant any harm and I did look for other posts by you in this thread as well. Without them, and without quoting what you were responding to, it did just seem like you came in to tell all the gays to stop spreading AIDS. I'm sorry for my part in the confusion. When you hear things like that alot, it's easy to fill in the blanks when all of the information is not there.

What is everyone doing for the Holidays???

Where do I find these people...

As I've mentioned many times, I'm bisexual and I have a boyfriend, but we're in an open relationship. The people I have seen while dating are absolutely horrible. I live outside of a college in a small southern town and I've run into the most backwards people... Just the other night, this one girl who I had been out with a couple times came home with me from the movies and we were fooling around on my bed and watching T.V. Something we saw on MTV set her off about gay people (RED FLAG!). She said to me, "that is so wrong." I was like, "what, how they are treated by others." She said "no, you idiot, it's a sin to be gay, they are all going to hell."

She blew it, I wasn't going to let her sleep with me after that one. But I gave her a chance to redeem herself and tried to tell her that people who are gay cant change the way they are and that there is more and more evidence to support it. Also, if that was the case, I told her that you can't be born to go to hell because that is against their idea of free will. She proceeded to tell me "I don't care, I still think they are going to hell." I got so mad that I kicked her out of the house, it got kinda ugly there so I'll leave that part out.

Where do these people come from? Geesh. California sure is looking nice at this point... it seems they are more tolerant of gay and bi people there.
