    The Crooked heath

This isn't my site, but i've read some of the articles and was wondering what other people thought of this site. From what i've heard, there's many people who love it, others hate it and others don't care.

    Anyway, what are your thoughts?

It's interesting, some good articles, good layout. Don't have time to do a thorough review, have a 5 month old in my lap right now.

Aside from the "Banned Book 2006" and "Red Flag" sections, I found the site to be complete crap.

    Hummm...
I would like to know more about the research involved and sources.
Some of this I had heard before, other things didn't seem 'quite right'.
Much of what she spoke of I have found in 'older sources' (pre '70s) and feel are most likely quite true.

The 'Red Flag' and 'Banned Book' Sections I can go along with.

One of the issues I have with allot of the more 'current' authors is they seem to base their books on what other current authors have written or their idea of an old tradition. They also tend to throw allot of different traditions into one 'pot'. Not that there is anything wrong with drawing from different traditions, it's just I don't feel an author should pass it of as something it is not. If you want to draw on and incorporate different traditions and your own ideas... present it as such.... "This is what I believe based on what I have researched and put together. You may fallow it if you wish." Then there are the ones who just don't seem to do enough research on the tradition that they are talking about.

This is a sad/bad thing, seeing that most people believe the first thing that they read about something is the truth and any contrary view after that (truth or not) must be even more convincing to be considered.

I do see how she can rub allot of people the wrong way... not necessarily a bad thing... we all have our views. But I think she feels that people need to fallow a tradition rather than a path in order to justify themselves as a 'witch'. I see her point, but don't totally agree.

    I like the site.

I also like the Meodows of Elfhame, and spent hours there.

I bought the guys book,it unraveld while I was reading it,,litteraly,,the pages came apart. It seemed like nonstop rambling,,and the subjects were not organized into sections,,,confusing for simple folks like me.

The end was a bit better, the rituals and all,I did glean some important information from his book(The witching Way of the Hollow Hills)And it has been very helpfull to me I believe.

RED FLAGS: SIGNS OF TROUBLE IN "TRADITIONAL WITCHCRAFT GROUPS":

    3. Groups of older crafters (especially, but not limited to, older men) that attract mostly much younger crafters (especially, but not limited to, younger females).

    9. Groups that use hallucinogenic or euphoric drugs at all of their meetings or in most of their rites, to achieve "altered states", or that encourage students to do the same.

    10. Groups whose rites (and "mysteries") revolve around 'fertility' themes almost completely, and that reduce everything down to physical sexual union between people.
Welp, that FLAGS the group I wanted to start! Drat!
