    Myths & Folklore: your areas of interest?

    According to the G&Gs 2007 poll 38.78% of you visit Mythology and Folklore often and like the forum and 16.33% would like to see more topics. So... I'm asking you all what areas and topics are you interested in?

    Here's a link explaining all that this forum deals with: What is Folklore & Mythology: Definitions and Info.

    Fiamma and I have started doing Mythology and Folklore of the Week threads as well:
    The founding Of Rome [Myth Of The Week]
    The Fall Of Icarus [Myth of the week]
    Hansel and Gretel {Folklore of the Week}
    Cupid and Psyche {Myth of the Week}
    Cerberus {Mythology of the Week}

    As well as seasonal threads, Litha/Summer Solstice Lore.

    Are you interested in mythology? Folklore? Totem, animal symbolism? Legends? A certian region or culture?

    Post them here.
    Thanks! It'll help us out.

    I like what you're doing now, and learning about the different myths, although folklore threads (especially Latin American, Middle Eastern, etc) would be good too, IMO, anyway.

    The cultures that I'd really like to see more of are the Middle East (especially maybe having Mesopotamian, Persian, Egyptian, Hittite myths, etc) and myths of Latin America (Incan myths would be really cool, but I know that there's not much info on them, at least compared to other cultures like Aztecs or Mayans for some reason).

    Other than that I'm happy with what you and Fiamma are doing .

    I'm getting into Nature-based lore - plants, animals, weather, the like. Maybe a seasonal thing where we post about plants that are in bloom or fruits and veggies that are in season, or the various weather patterns that prevail at that time of year.

    That would all depend on geographic location, of course. Which would be part of the fun.

    I've thought of another one, how about weather folklore, like what people in the past did to help bring about certain weather (e.g. to make it rain, make the sun shine, etc).

    Thanks you two!
    I like the nature lore too! And David I'll try to find more Middle Eastern myths/lore of the "Mythology/Folklore of the Week" threads.

    There's a few links about weather here:
    Air/Sky: lore, spirits, myths, etc.

    I'm looking to add more links too.
    Though it anyone wants a more in depth look at weather lore feel free to start a thread!

    Weather myths

    Oriental rain/thunder/storm/clouds legends were largely the domain of dragons.
    In Tibet many mountain-dwelling gods take that same form.
    I can look up more stuff if anyone is interested *fumbles around on desk, past crystals, a bag of peanuts, stack of cds, camera, coffee mug, roll of t.p. - what'n'ell is that doing here - notes on Tibet are here somewhere*
