    One Piece of Advice?

Imagine you can only give one piece of advice to a beginning Pagan. What is it?

Mine is - Don't worry so much about reading the right things - just go out and do something spiritual. And when you do read, don't just read the book, do the exercises, try things out!

    Mine:

In the words of Buddha, follow your own common sense. If something feels funny, listen to that. If someone else sounds stupid, they probably are. Just because someone is a Pagan doesn't mean they know anything, so don't take that as a sign of education.

Don't feel like you need the approval of anyone else. There will always be someone who disapproves of your beliefs.

Study with a critical mindset, just because someone says something, or something is in a book, does not make it right. Double and triple check everything, and trust your own intelligence and instincts.

Learn from others, learn from yourself, experience life and live your life, be free, be honorable, be helpful and no matter which exact path you choose to follow, you will not fail in achieving a spiritual way of living.

Just because you're new to it, doesn't mean that you aren't smart enough to realize when something isn't right. Listen to your instincts and intelligence.

Most of all, be yourself. Don't let someone else tell you something/ask you to do something that you aren't comfortable with just because they have more experience.

Of course, trust yourself and your own judgement, but don't be an arse when someone tries to offer you another side of the story.

If you join a group and everyone has a shaved head...don't drink the coolaid.

Oh, and read Bonewit's Cult Danger Evaluation Frame - you won't believe how many covens match the warning signs. Be safe and don't let anyone push you around or into anything you're uncomfortable with.
