I've picked Up a couple Rune books

    Rune Power by Kenneth Meadows

    Runes By Andy Baggot.

I've read the second and just started the first any comments out there on these books?

Isn't Kenneth Meadows the one that talks about 'uthark' instead of 'futhark'? If it's the book I'm thinking of, in my opinion, it's questionable, at best. I'm not familar with Andy Baggot.

    Rune Studies

Trying not to sound flippant cause I am not. I seriously want to know. I read one book on runes. It gave a good history of the runes, the meanings, several spreads, ideas for casting. I got magickal uses from other books of magick, I have taken notes on threads on this wonderful forum. I am wondering what is out there in the study of runes. There have been book threads but aside from suggesting the book there isn't any info on what the books contain so I really don't know. I don't want to keep reading the same thing over and over again.

Trying not to sound flippant, either, (flippant is such a cool word... sounds kinda acrobatic, or something... thanks for using it! ) you might want to seek out a 'study buddy'... there's a lot to be said for having someone you can call up & bounce an idea off of, share books with, etc...

Also, much depends on your goals... are you working toward becoming a vitki (Rune magician), or maybe planning on following the Shamanic Path? If so, you might wish to pursue Runelore much deeper than if, say, it's just one of many magical or divinatory methods in which you're interested...

And there's always the Rune Guild... I believe they offer formal courses... check at

(I think... OK, that's off the top of my head, but just look for the Rune Guild on your favorite search engine)...

There are also a few good rune chat e-lists out there. There is one that I don't participate in much anymore that has lots of good discussion. PM me if you want the link.

    Talking Betcha didn't know

Ok, may Rick does, but the crusty old Druid down the block does a little dabbling in runes now and then. :D

Anyway, I picked up the book "Runes in 10 Minutes" by R.T. Kantor (sp) and have used it as my guide ever since. There are 24 chapters that teach successively complex spreads and lessons while reinforcing the basic meanings behind each rune. at the end there is a cross referancing guide for literally dozens of questions.

Using this book I created what I call a "Spirit Profile". It is a complex drawing which produces what its name implies, a 9 rune draw that produces a picture of a persons body, mind and soul.

So check out Runes in 10 Minutes. I recommend it for anyone.

    Peace!
