The Harper's Song for Inherkhawy (Excerpt)

So seize the day! hold holiday!
    Be unwearied, unceasing, alive
    you and your own true love;
Let not the heart be troubled during your
    sojourn on Earth,
but seize the day as it passes!

Voltaire's Political Writings: Cambridge Texts in the History of Political Thought (an awesome series, btw...if you can afford it).

Also Daniel Suarez's new book, Freedom, the sequel to the excellent techno-thiller Daemon.
"Polidori once asked Byron what, besides scribble verses, he could do better than Polidori himself. Byron icily replied: 'Three things. First, I can hit with a pistol the keyhole of that door. Secondly, I can swim across that river to yonder point. And thirdly, I can give you a damned good thrashing.'"

Finishing off "Who Do You Think You Are?" by Alice Munro, "The Age of Lead" by Margaret Atwood, and soon to be starting "Heart of Darkness" by Joseph Conrad. [Bleeeeh. I wouldn't read the latter one (again!!) if I didn't have to.]

I'll be waiting for you, in my heart you are the one.
If I cannot find you, I will look up to the sun/
If from where you're standing, you can see the sky above
I'll be waiting for you, if you still believe in love...

Go then. There are other worlds than these.

"Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read." --- Groucho Marx

"I believe in the forest, and in the meadow, and in the night in which the corn grows." --- Henry David Thoreau

We all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun.

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
    And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again
