    Unhappy ~~In Memoriam~~

I had been planning on starting one of these threads since we introduced the Pagan Entertainment forum. It will be updated as necessary to pay honor to those in the field who have crossed over.

This thread will be here to announce when somone has passed on, feel free to start dedication threads below--this one is for announcements only. (Thanks.)

I am sad to announce that this thread starts with the passing of an acting legend.

Actor Richard Crenna passed away this past Friday, January 17th of pancreatic cancer.

Mr. Crenna's most recent role of note has been a recurring appearance on the CBS show, "Judging Amy." However, his career has spanned more than 50 years.

Richard Crenna was 76 at the time of his passing and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

To read more on Mr. Crenna, please take note of the links below.

Al Hirschfeld, King of Caricature, Dies

A definate NY icon, Al Hirschfeld has died at the age of 99.

I just saw an interview with Mr. Hirschfeld last week and when asked if he'd ever retire, he said, "no. I'd just get bored."

If you ever see one of his drawings, be sure to look for the number next to his signature. That is the number of times the name "NINA" appears in the sketch itself. Nina is his daughter and after she was born, he incorporated her name into almost all of his drawings.

Virginia Heinlein, widow of S/F great Robert A. Heinlein, passed away in her sleep this weekend. She was instrumental in getting Stranger in a Strange Land published as it was originally written, rather than as edited by Mr. Heinlein's publishers.
    Blessed be!

I just heard that Nell Carter died this morning in her home. She was only 54 and had Diabetes, I assume her death was related to the Diabetes somehow but I am not sure.

    Unhappy

She was amazing. 4'11" and a voice that could shake the rafters, Nell Carter was a Tony Winner for her role in "Ain't Misbehavin'" on Broadway.

Her film debut in Hair is forever etched in my memory for the song "Black Boys/White Boys," her voice was so distinct and made the song soar.

If you love comedies, a great movie to watch her in is one called "Modern Problems." She was hysterical as the voodoo maid of Dabney Coleman.

Many remember her most for her role on "Gimme a Break" the 1980's TV series and most recently for her guest appearances on the show "Ally McBeal."

She was only 54 and had problems with diabetes and in the 90's had two surgeries to remove brain aneurysms. As of 8pm EST, her cause of death is still unknown.

She is survived by her two adopted sons.

I just heard that she passed a few minutes ago. I was so sad. The memory for me is Joey Lawrence as a litte kid calling her "Aunt Nell"
It's been minutes, it's been days. It's been all that I remember. <3

Glenn Quinn died. I don't know how. How sad. Man, I've been upset about his death twice. The first time, his character on Angel died. SO sad. Loved that character, cause I loved him. And now this. How sad. I guess I'm a little late getting the news... he died in December.

    *sad face*

"And if they were unsuccessful at tearing you from your joy, they would seek to harm you, so enormous would be their rage. And when you told them it does not matter, that even death cannot interrupt your joy, nor change your truth, they would surely kill you. Then when they saw the peace with which you accepted death, they would call you saint, and love you again.

For it is the nature of people to love, then destroy, then love again that which they value most."

I don't watch Angel but I recognized the name right away. He was Mark on Roseanne...married to Roseanne's daughter Becky.

I'm so sorry about this. I really liked him.

He died December 3, 2002 apparantly of a drug overdose. Shame, he was a talented guy and so handsome.
