    In less than a month, another "Our Miss Brooks" actor has passed away. Robert Rockwell, 82 dies Saturday of cancer.

    For those of you too young to remember that show, Mr. Rockwell also had appearances on "Different Strokes," "Growing Pains," "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Days of Our Lives."

    He was also active in movies including a role in the 1953 film "War of the Worlds."

    Joe Connelly co-creator of "Leave it to Beaver" died Thursday of complications from a stroke he suffered last month. He was 86.


    Mr. Connelly also worked on "The Munsters", "Amos & Andy" and much more in his career.

    Stacy Keach Sr. passed of congestive heart failure at the age of 88. He was the father of actors Stacy and James Keach.

    He appeared in TV shows like "Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman" with his daughter-in-law Jane Seymour (who is married to James Keach) as well as having had a recurring role on "Get Smart."

    He appeared in such television shows as "St. Elsewhere,""Dynasty, "Baretta,""The Incredible Hulk,""Adam 12,""Barnarby Jones,""Kojack,""Mannix,""Marcus Welby, M.D.,""Bonanza,""Wagon Train,""Maverick,""77 Sunset Strip" and several episodes of "The Lone Ranger."

    Mr. Rogers passed away this morning.......He had stomach cancer........It's a sad, sad day in the neighborhood ........Surely his journey home will be short and sweet...................

    That is soooo sad. My bf was actually born in Pittsburgh and literally lived in Mr. Rogers neighborhood when he was very small - he knew him. He's going to be sooooo upset.

    One of TOm ePetty's musician buddies died too...from a Heroine overdose.....Mister ROgers was on eof my favs growing up....Mister Rogers son also had a bad problem with coke a few years ago too....

    Thats so sad about Mr. Rogers I worked at a limo co. along time ago, and he acctually called to make his own limo appointment, I got to talk to him. He was such a nice man

    He was a truly great man--An American Icon.


    For those who haven't seen it yet there is a wonderful tribute thread in Just Talk about his death. Normally it would go here in PE, but this is a special case.




    Also, I believe that there may be something in the music forum about Petty's bass player.

    - March 20, 1928: Fred Rogers born in Latrobe, Pa.

    - 1954: Rogers introduces "The Children's Corner," a children's show in Pittsburgh where he works as an unseen puppeteer.

    - 1963: Rogers accepts offer to develop his own 15-minute show, "Misterogers," for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp.

    - 1968: National Educational Television, which later becomes Public Broadcasting Service, begins distributing the show, by then called "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood."


    - 1985-86: Ratings peak for "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood," as 8 percent of all U.S. households tune in.

    - 1991: During the Persian Gulf War, Rogers tells youngsters, "All children shall be well taken care of in this neighborhood and beyond - in times of war and in times of peace," and asks parents to promise their children they will always be safe.

    - 1993: At a ceremony marking the show's 25th anniversary, Rogers says, "It's not the honors and not the titles and not the power that is of ultimate importance. It's what resides inside."

    - December 2000: Rogers tapes the show's final episode.

    - August 2001: Final episode airs.

    - September 2002: Rogers comes out of broadcasting retirement to record public service announcements telling parents how to help their children deal with the Sept. 11 attacks anniversary.

    - Feb. 27, 2003: Rogers dies of stomach cancer.
