I cannot seem to get over the death of David Bloom. Having watched him from the beginning of his career and having him on my tv almost constantly since the war in Iraq started, I feel as if I've lost a member of my family.

I spent a good part of yesterday reading tributes to this man--everyone from his own colleagues at NBC in NY to Fmr. President Clinton, to Steve Forbes and the wonderful tribute given to him in Congress yesterday afternoon one thing was for sure...This man was truly loved by everyone he met.

I also read tributes that were posted by people who never knew him. After reading several hundred it was astounding how many of these folks considered him a true friend.

So many emails and phone calls have been coming into NBC expressing sympathy for the family that they set up a separate email address to send emails directly to the family. Also, on the website, you can post messages of condolences as well.

I know! I saw that Robert Stack died yesterday and since then I've had scenes from the movie "Airplane" going through my head.

I loved him--he was just the coolest no matter what he was doing.

I will personally never forget the scene in "1941" where Stack and his Army generals are watching "Dumbo" and crying through the "Baby Mine" scene.

June Carter Cash died today, here in Nashville.
Member of the country legend The Carter Family, and the Grand Old Opry, she was the woman Johnny Cash gave up everything for, and the inspiration for "Ring of Fire." I always think of that song as oversharing.

I doubt Johnny will last long without her.

She's a great loss to the music community.

    *June Carter Cash*

The story came on my news alert as soon as I logged on and I'm so sorry. She was a cool lady.

I agree with you Azure. My mother and I were just talking about how Johnny may not make it without her. They were a special couple.

I posted in Music too. Cause I had a thread there.

You have no idea how much this has affected me. I may be the resident Godsmack, Grateful Dead chick here at MW, but The Cash's music reminds me of home. My Dad would play Johnny's music all the time. I've loved both Johnny & June my whole life.

I am deeply saddened by this event.

*lights a candle for June's family*

I grew up listening to her & her family as she was my grandmother's favorite.

I really liked the whole Carter family.......Especially June, she really took Johnny in hand and pretty much straightened him out..........I said first thing when I heard this.........Johnny probably won't last long now.........

~~*Dick Cusack Passes at Age 77*~~

The Cusack family patriarch Dick Cusack passed away today of pancreatic cancer at age 77.

In 1970 he left his successful advertising career to become a screenwriter/actor. He was quoted as having once said, "'Who cares if you brush your teeth with Colgate or Palmolive? There are bigger issues out there."

Cusack is of course the father of actors: John, Joan, Ann, Bill and Susie Cusack.

Dick Cusack appeared in such films as "Return to Me," "While You Were Sleeping" and "My Bodyguard." (Personal favorites of mine.)

My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
