Not using spreads a bad thing?

I've always just lay my cards out and pulled them out of the deck when I do readings, and it works fine for me. Is this way wrong?
Spreads confuse me for some reason and I feel restricted when using them..Also I don't understand what the cards are telling me when I use spreads...any thoughts ??

The way that works best for you is the best way of doing it. I like the structure of a good spread like the Celtic Cross, but if you get better results your own way, then just go with it.

If YOU now what the order, positions and proximity of the cards mean on an intuitive level, then it's fine. Of course, if you ask someone else to look it over for you they will likely have no clue what to do with it.

Have you tried making up your own spreads?

Back when my husband read cards for others, he never used a traditional spread. Most of the time he just laid them where it felt right, and he was accurate to the point of creeping out some of the people
I've adapted layouts before because while I used it as a foundation, it didn't feel complete while I was doing the reading.

I make up my own spreads all the time. I'll use a prewritten spread if I find one that pertains to my question. But mostly for myself I throw three cards and call it good.

But it is fun to make up my own.
