    Computer magic

Do you do magic with or on your computer? Smudge it when it's acting wierd? Do rituals online?

Ah I saw a book on this at the bookstore just yesterday. It had many interesting, cute and kinda silly spells that you could perform via e-mail or even sms! :D
But no, I don't do any magical work with my computer. Many claim though, that they have connected with spirits through computer.

    We smudged ours once.
It didn't like us after that, it totally crashed.
    I had to reformat.
We shut down when we do circle/ritual now.

I'm a member of an online coven. We do meet from time to time, but since we're from all over the UK, live meetings aren't feasable on a regular basis, so we meet online twice a week instead.
We do our rituals online, usually a few days before the actual day of the Sabbat so that coven members can attend live rituals in their area or do a private ritual on their own.

I've found that online rituals with people I know reasonably well can actually be a lot more powerful than live group rituals where I hardly know anyone. So don't be afraid to give online stuff a try

Check the search function at the top of any page and look for "technopaganism" or "techgnosis". I know of at least one or two threads on this subject; I remember Mithrea did some work on it and I've posted on it a few times as well.

I led a Samhain ritual on Compuserve -- more than 10 years ago. I rather like doing ritual online but if it's an open ritual you have to plan carefully to make it explain itself as it goes along. You don't get the feedback of blank faces and realize that you need to make things clearer.

Do you think it's possible to work out a way to protect a computer from such "ritual burn out" or not?

When my computer starts getting weird ideas about acting funny, it tends to think twice when I threaten to hurl down the stairwell.

But then, they had to go and invent THIS...

Actually a computer line is one of the easier ways to send energy to a person. for one usually it isn't protected like it should be. Next magic is energy and so is the energy used to transmit information both can flow along the same paths.

Now as to why computers chrashed when smudged. personally I don't want to know what was hanging around them that made that happen.
