    Hymn to Her

Has anyone heard this song by the Pretenders? I've heard it a million time before, and just yesterday really listened to the words for the first time. I never realized what it was about before, but the line "I'll be your daughter when the moon becomes round" caught my attention so I had to restart the song and really listen to it. I realized that it's about the Goddess. One of the lines even goes - "The Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone that's grown old." I was so amazed.... anyway, just wanted to share that.

Wow, really? ::runs off to check CD collection:: Yay, I have that CD! :lay:: Wow, thanks! This is a great song. :D
    Lyrics:

    LET ME INSIDE YOU
    INTO YOUR ROOM
    I'VE HEARD IT'S LINED
WITH THE THINGS YOU DON'T SHOW
    LAY ME BESIDE YOU
    DOWN ON THE FLOOR
    I'VE BEEN YOUR LOVER
FROM THE WOMB TO THE TOMB
    I DRESS AS YOUR DAUGHTER
    WHEN THE MOON BECOMES ROUND
    YOU BE MY MOTHER
    WHEN EVERYTHING'S GONE

AND SHE WILL ALWAYS CARRY ON
    SOMETHING IS LOST
    BUT SOMETHING IS FOUND
THEY WILL KEEP ON SPEAKING HER NAME
    SOMETHINGS CHANGE
    SOME STAY THE SAME

    KEEP BECKONING TO ME
    FROM BEHIND THAT CLOSED DOOR
    THE MAID AND THE MOTHER
AND THE CRONE THAT'S GROWN OLD

    I HEAR YOUR VOICE
    COMING OUT OF THAT HOLE
    I LISTEN TO YOU
    AND I WANT SOME MORE
    I LISTEN TO YOU
    AND I WANT SOME MORE

AND SHE WILL ALWAYS CARRY ON
    SOMETHING IS LOST
    BUT SOMETHING IS FOUND
THEY WILL KEEP ON SPEAKING HER NAME
    SOME THINGS CHANGE
    SOME STAY THE SAME

Anyone ever notice out of nowhere that their favourite band has a song about the Goddess or Pagan beliefs and you never knew it? Now I don't mean Pagan bands or bands that are obviously Pagan, but bands you had no idea were Pagan at all and suddenly you read the lyrics of the song and went "aaaah!".

For example, I realized The Tea Party had a song about Inanna AND a song about Drawing Down the Moon after I started studying Paganism....
