Thumbs up For those looking for Kemetic names- look no further

I decided to put this is a seperate thread (I hope that is ok) because it is a lot of information and can help many people...and it would be easier for those who need/want the info to find.

    ---
Because I have been obsessed with Kemet since I was a child and I love to find anything about it I was able to score some GREAT info on Kemetic names. What is more important to know are the word elements and their meanings. Once you know that you can create almost endless names and meanings.

This was gotten from a website that seems to be down (too bad!). I have found this quite accurate and I use it a lot. I have both MALE and FEMALE lists!

From the name lists you can see thrends in meanings and how the word elements are arranged-- "ankhensen" always means "Her life is of--" "Mer/it" always means "beloved" etc.

It is quite easy to get a Kemet name-- Though dreams, medations, and talking with the Netjeru some have felt more natural (to me). I have many four such names so far, but they-- like me-- keep evolving. It is also something I like to do for fun. I love words, names and Kemet so it's perfect to pass time.

If anyone needs help, I would be happy to try. I know more Kemetic words beyond what is listed.
Another great source I must point out is: Illustrated hieroglyphics handbook by Schumann-Antelme, Ruth. (it breaks down the word elements with Hieros wonderfully)

    Last notes:
    - This is not the same as the Nisut(ASU) naming you (but that does not mean it is less valid in the eyes of the Netjeru or your heart.)
    - I've read things saying not to take a Netjeru's name directly (as in don't call yourself Aset... MerytAset works though or any other name like that)
    - Do not base everything on Budge's translations, I have found them to be flawed

    Hope that helps!

Disclaimer-- I do not claim to be an expert in the Kemetic language and their names. I can only give my opinion based on my knowlegde. I cannot guarentee that the websites are absolutely correct either.

Wonderful list! Thank you for this, it's useful.

My birth-name is Danielle, which is a Hebrew name meaning "God is my judge". I want to keep the essence of my name - I believe your birth name shapes and reflects some of who you are - but want a kemetic name. So I've been trying to figure out what the Kemetic version of Danielle would be.

"Ma'at is my(her?) judge"? "Netjer is my(her) judge"? "Anpu is my/her guide"? Something relevant like that. But then the sticky part comes when trying to figure out the translation. I've been hunting around but haven't quite figured it out yet.

    Any thoughts/ideas?

I found so many cool names from this list! Thanks lots. I've been looking for kemet names too. I chose one name for myself really long time ago, "Amuenet", but it was just something that I liked. But I want something that has to do with me and has a meaning for me and who I am too. I've been trying to translate some nicknames into Egyptian, but it's kinda hard and I don't know Egyptian that well.
Agaliha, can you do me a favour and translate these nicknames into Egyptian?

    Moonchild
    Child of Light
    The Light Maiden/Guardian of Light
    Light of Isis/Priestess of Isis
    Daughter of the Gods
    Lily or Rose
    Mistress of The Night
    Sister of Light
    Maiden of Darkness/Guardian of Darkness

I hope it's not too much! I'm looking forward to your reply, and I'd be really greatful if you could do it for me!

    Thanks in advance,
    ~Suzanah

Got your PM...I tried my best.

Now for anyone else I just wanted to say this, read this before you post asking for names from me.

I am not an expert on ancient Egyptian written or spoken.

All I know is the little I've pieced together from looking at how those names above are put together.

Those lists above are not mine, but gathered off the internet and posted for those who are interested.

Though I can try to create names there is no guarentee that they are correct.

I understand the need for people to have more personal names, but there's not much I can do. Really.

So I'm sorry, but I'm not really the one to ask for kemet names.
