Priest/Priestess of...?

Egyptian theology is obviously ancient....so this has been on my mind a bit based on things I see around the web.

Are there bloodlines existing today that can still ordain into ancient traditions of Egypt, or bloodlines that claim to be a part of or keep alive the ancient traditions in purity (meaning without all the new-agey changes that can take over)?

Is ordination in present day even possible, or is it a personal tribute to the god/goddess that makes a person consider themself a priest/priestess of ______?

I notice people refer to themselves in this manner, so I am just curious. I'm ecelectic, and feel a pull toward the Egyptian, but have never had an opportunity to really delve into some of the more obscure and deep traditions that I know exist.

I'm just curious, so I hope that doesn't offend anyone, and I hope that makes sense.

Quite simply, not really. There are really two main threads of organized Ancient Kemetic worship that attempt to revive the religion but still do not strictly adhere to the purity; They are House of Neter (Kemetic Orthodoxy) http://www.kemet.org/home.html
or Kemeticism http://www.tehutionline.com/ which is an afrocentric style reconstruction, though I use the term loosely. Other pagan and Wiccan groups exist but often times attempt to overlay the Egyptian pantheons and some festivals overtop the traditional wheel of the year and that is not anywhere near the way the ancient egyptians setup their calendars, especially since they operated off of 3 different ones: solar, lunar, and sothic. There are also organized esoteric Egyptian groups that are more Hermetic in nature and work that angle but I'm not sure that's what your asking about. You could check out:

Yes there is ordination that is possible through a handful of outlets but they will not be of the purity I believe you to be inquiring about. HoN (House of Neter) and Kemeticism, Egyptian Gold Dawn/OTO http://sekhetmaat.com/wiki/Home, Isian Wiccan http://www.fellowshipofisis.com/, and Egyptian based witches will ordain as they have set themselves up to do but to the best of my knowledge you will not find a person who is of any lineage harkening back to the Pharohs time that can claim to be able to ordain priests and priestesses (at least not ones that I have any personal knowledge of that I don't believe to be pure quackery). There are tales of individuals still residing in Egypt that claim lineage and still honor the Ancient Gods/Goddesses but it is done so in private and for the most part is personal.

Also there are Masonic lodges that exist with an Egyptian basis: http://www.ath-ka-ptah.org/

The wonderful thing about Egyptian is that there is a wealth of material out there from which one can study, learn, and recreate.

These are excellent sources that don't require going anywhere to begin delving into the ancient beliefs, practices, religion, culture, magic, literature and writings. No better way to get to know ancient Egypt than to jump in with both feet.

No offense taken I understand it can be confusing. Mostly the above is to show you what kind of options reside out there besides personal discovery.

Me.Until the death of the universe. The answer you seek is inside your soul, you can reach to the purity you want through astral projection.Egyptian gods are more human than you think. There is no purity in the main stream. The document discovered in ancient Tomis, here in Romania(Tomis is today city of Constanta) contained a profecy and the outcome of the odissey of the gods, fleeing from the face of seth ,the evil doer, after he murdered the first body of osiris.this is information hard to find in general, because it was kept secret by all scholars most of the time. The civilization on Danube River is far older than the egyptians, and the pyramid idea came from here. Also there is a Stonehenge formation here, smaller but much more precise then the one in England, near Ceahlau mountain, the first pyramid shaped construction dated 10000 years before the great pyramid in Egypt.A proffessor Prof. John Ţicleanu discovered and documented this but was silenced short while after that, with an order from the gov. Here is something he published.Page translated with google from romanian http://translate.google.ro/translate...%3Den%26sa%3DG

The original title is 'We taught the egyptians to make the pyramids'

This has been a question I was burning to ask for awhile. However I couldnt find a tactfull way to do it because everything I wrote sounded offensive. Hethert, you have really done a great job with the answer and opened my eyes to more information that I didnt even know was available.

I guess I'm a little confused by this post.

Are you saying that you can be a priest/priestess of, say... Bast, just because you want to be?

That there was something wrong with the Egyptian beliefs, that they were not pure?

Or that you believe that you are a descendant of someone that was?

I think Het Hert has answered these points very comprehensively a few posts previously so I will talk about the next part of your question.

In my case it would be more in the line of what you describe as a personal tribute to the Goddess. I would see it more in the context of an affirmation of dedication and service to the Goddess (in my case to Het Hert). I found her (or she found me) in much the same way that pagans of various traditions become close to a particular deity;- by accident! As my relationship with her has evolved and developed I have never felt compelled to adopt Kemetic beliefs and practices as such, although of course it helps to understand her better by learning about the beliefs and traditions in which she was first known. The main thrust of my relationship with her seems to be based on the fact that she is eternal and in many ways modern and these facts seem to transend the need to work within the 'purity of ancient tradition'.
I hope that makes sense.

Yes you can!You are not required to be a descendant this bloodline thing is only an elitist new age thing and I don't mean to offend anyone's beleifs but anyone who is pure of heart and hasd a burning spirit can be a priest or priestess to bast or any other egyptian gods..in ancient times this was the decivie criteria of choosing the priest or priestess, besides tests of knowledge and wisdom.

There is not something wrong with egyptian beleifs, the mainstream information is mostly wrong and confusing..that is why you are recommended to try and have your own pure insights, unbiased by something someone said it's true, you must verify and find out wheter it is imagination or it is insight

About me ,since before i know I had unexplainable visions of egypt my first I remember around 3 or 4 years..my paretns kept me isolated in the house since I got 7 year old,and we had not TV until I was 14.My mother kept reading me from the Bible over and over that was the only info I got and I was supposed to get..shge used to read me about the 10 plagues of egypt over and over and I used to listen and cry in my heart,at the end of the story I was heartbroken and in tears when the pharaoth first son died..from this emotions I got all sorts of visions of places in Egypt that later prooved are actually there like the temple of philae which felt 'home' ,the halls of osiris which are not yet discovered by archeologists, the mausoleum of cleopatra, the insides and secrets of the pyramids of Giza...my mum always showed a happy face and enjoyed the fall of the egyptians and even today talks bad of them because of what is said in the Bible and I could not stand it I use to cry and say the egyptians never did that ,they were not as cruel and unjust ,hat is all a lie what sais in the bible, that thy did not deserve what it was written there, and mom used to get angry of me and ask me where do I get all these ideas and locked me in my room and I used to scream that it's not faire ,it's not true.Once she asked if I can explain why I say all these to her and I told her i JUST FEEL IT WITH MY WHOLE BEING .Of course she did not understand. At a yoga conference ,when I was 15 and went with my auntie, there was a visitng dalai lama.I went there for peace and to keep my aunt company and listen to what the lama had to say.Unfortunatly I was 30 min late in the class, and everybody was sitting in the lotus position and meditating and was veery quiet. There were 2 guards at the door where I almost barged in and they wanted to not let me in saying they are sorry the session already started, but the lama raised his voice and said to the guards: let her in..let the light come in.. and they let me lama made a sign to come sit in front of him and I was seated in front of him for what seemed like forever and he did not take his eyes from my eyes..then he suddently began to speak to me in a very warm and friendly tone of voice which i liked so much and he told me to stop being afraid and let peace come to me beacuse love will come to me and I am made of love.He said 'I know this love you have given to others and most of them are blind and cold hearted..but never change and keep lighting the world with your love, and this way you can shine for the others which are like you that will gather around you and toghter you will be part of the challange to save and restore this world to harmony.I know you feel you do not belong here, and you are unhappy of this coldness that has set upon this world, but with your love and passion you will find your way home, your mission is to be the awakening beacon that will your kind the way home..do not not doubt yourself, and never doubt this,Esset Esi of Egypt! You are the reincarnation of what you had been, what you are and what you will be and never should you doubt the role that you have in the greater plan for the universe..I felt his energy so friendly but I was so surprised of what he has said to me and when I think even today I can't beleive it because back then I did not beleive in reincarnation. But strange events from my life began to comply with what the lama said to me...and it's been like this ever since.. So search into your soul, look into your life ,find clues and maybe find a visionary or a lama if you get too confused..they can help with insight and confusing issues

By the way I am in the zodiacal sign of Bast and enjoying it miaaau!the egyptians zodiac si the most realistic zodiac in the world ,maybe that is why for me it has priority in front of others
