Ashy Elbows

My elbows are SO ashy...no matter what i try, they always look like i've been crawling around under the house. My knees aren't this way, just my elbows (i think this is because i wear short sleeves all year and only wear shorts to bed)...

The only thing i haven't tried is using a steel-mesh scrubbing pad (the kind you'd use on dishes.) Even Goop won't work.

any clues, please?

Cut a lemon in two, and put sugar or sea salt on each half, and really work it into your elbow skin. Follow with a olive oil or a good moistureizer and keep up at it until they are no longer ashen. It works well in the shower or, if you are just sitting around.

Exfoliating is your friend. I like Glowy's method with the lemon/sugar or salt or buy a scrub (I use Origins) in the shower and when I get out, even though there are oils in the scrub, I use a bit of shea butter lotion on the elbows. I have dry ashy elbows as well and I exfoliate every week in the summer, every other week or so in the cold months. Makes a world of difference for me

I'm with the others on this one.
My elbows and knees get crazy rough when I do lots of landscaping and renovation work.

Add a bit of sugar or salt to a squirt of body wash and massage it into the grey-bits to exfoliate, rinse, then moisturize.
Repeat each time you bathe until you have shiny elbows again.

My elbows do something similar. They're always really rough feeling, and lotion only seems to help for the moment. >.< Not to mention the lotion kinda stings a lil.

I have the same elbow issues. I find that lotions that have oat meal in them work the most.
