So, both of our cats sometimes do this thing where they stick out the tip of their tongue and just...leave it there. LOL our Hermes does this sometimes.

(By the way... Sticking their tongue out is adorable, but it is not panting. If your cat is honest-to-god panting, wipe it with a sopping wet cool cloth and offer plenty of water to drink... and if it continues panting, take it to the vet! )

My cat does that when she's sleeping, which is because she also talks in her sleep. I even had a ferret who would stare into space with the tip of his tongue out.

Wish I did, GA! But my cats have an unerring sense of "Hey! You got the camera out! Here, let me stop doing that adorable thing you wanted a picture of."

Thanks for the info., y'all. I think the smell option is most likely. 'Cause it's November in Minnesota; if they're overheating, they have serious issues!
