It sounds like some kind of "Anglican Rite" and they would be sort of like the Eastern Churches of the Catholic faith in being slightly autonomous with their own hierarchy. It's interesting that they're priests would also be allowed to be married (as in the Eastern Churches). Hopefully, it'll at least break the stereotype that people have: "Rome-forces-priests-to-not-marry=EVIL!!" Thoughts, opinions?

Actually, it was the Traditional Anglican Communion that petitioned Rome first for re-communion.

I talked to my priest about this. She's upset that they're leaving. We need all ideas in the Anglican church, liberal and conservative.
I do hope they find what they're looking for in the Catholic church, though. Do you think this will be a move to allow all Catholic priests to marry? |

Quote:
Now even though the Anglican Use is within the borders of the Latin Rite, priestly celibacy is not enforced for reasons similar to why priestly celibacy was not enforced when the Eastern Churches joined with Rome. So in sum, I don't think this will be a move to allow all Catholic priests to marry. Within the Latin Rite, it is preferred and has been for a while that married men and women give 100% to their spouses and families while priests give 100% to God. Obviously other culturally different, theologically "correct" and ritually different groups have a different stance on the matter but within our Rite, this practice seems steady.
