I was sad and pissed when I heard the outcome of this case.

I was hoping she'd be found alive, but to hear that she was dead (they're assuming, ID is pending) and sold for sex by her own mother, that totally disgusted me. I cannot imagine how someone could sell/give their child away like that, to be molested, raped and abused. With human trafficking, many of the children survive and are sex slaves for years, if not their whole life. To imagine that the mother would have done that to her child is mind-boggling. In a way, it might be better that she is dead because the pain and trauma sex slaves can endure is severe. Sad story. I hope the mother and those involved are punished severely.

Mario Andrette McNeill, 29, has been charged with first degree murder and first degree rape of a child.
Shaniya's mother, Antoinette Davis, is accused of selling her daughter as a sex slave and appeared in court on human trafficking and child prostitution charges.

I also heard that she was "payment" for a drug debt, not just the mother selling her for any kind of profit (Gods that sounds so horrible as I type it).

It's so tragic, and so sad. I think I kind of agree with you though - maybe it was better to end quickly, rather than years and years of abuse. Though it should have never happened to begin with.

I hope her mother gets put in jail, sobers up and gets to live out the rest of her remaining days in a jail, reminded everyday of how she allowed her daughter to be raped and killed. Hopefully she's sane enough for it to be pure torture to her.

It could just be that she didn't love the child, and when there is no binding emotion, humans can be very disgustingly cruel. I think my mother would have been fully capable of just this sort of thing if it wasn't for the fact that she would get caught and didn't want to pay that sort of penalty.

And no, I'm not exaggerating. My mother and I have a very... odd... relationship.
