Harvest Supper at church

I know this sounds awful and maybe im not good with confrontation, but Id just go. Some of the church things can be pretty cool and it is a harvest celebration. They may have good food there to boot

I'd tell her no or if I did go and people started asking me questions I'd tell them straight up "I am pagan, I am here to spend time with my mother-in-law".

After MUCH internal deliberation,
I think I am gonna go and just bear it.
It's like some of ya'll have said, I am there to spend time with my MIL...
and there might be some pretty yummy food there!!!

Have fun and celebrate the fall harvest and all the work people have done to make this a joyous time.........we have fall suppers here, and everyone goes, it does not matter if they go to church or not. As a matter of fact all the churches end up putting one on and everyone goes to the different suppers. Relax and enjoy yourself

I'm going to agree with you 2, tell her you've got plans, or you don't want to go, and, to be honest, you started going on your own accord anyway, and, you're surprised they'd invite you to a celebration when you've been attending for awhile?, perhaps you should have just taken up running or something.

This is the way I've always handled things and even if someone does get the questions in - I usually come up with some vague response so they know to back off. To be honest, I don't even like my own family asking me too many questions so I wouldn't take it from someone outside.

Here's hoping you have fun at the harvest supper. It probably won't be so bad. And besides, free food is a good enough reason to go to church as far as I'm concerned!
