"Person A is so depressed she is unable to work" is a statement that could bite them in the rear later.
Sounds like you guys have better standards. That's good.

Ours, when anyone even bothers telling them they've screwed up anymore, simply apologizes and puts in an notification that there was an error in such and such article and that such and such is the correct information.

They haven't run into anyone who is lawsuit-happy yet.

And for the general population, bipolar and depression are interchangeable. You're just (unfortunately) more likely to be called a drama-queen (or king) for claiming bipolar by those who have any inkling that its something different from simple depression. Shows how ignorant people are, but for those who haven't been there, that unfortunately falls into the "technical" category even though you and I know there's a big difference and that they aren't really technical terms.

I also recall that there is a "political correctness" debate about even using the term "bipolar" versus "manic-depressive" versus the shiny new clinical term that I can't even remember now, so that might have played into it as well.

Mass hysteria and mass complacency are flip sides of the same coin. Never panic, always think for yourself. Question all information, even from those individuals and sources you hold most cherished, for in those instances, complacency and hysteria alike become all too easy. All information either comes from humans or is filtered through the human mind (our own or another's) and thus subject to human faults no matter if it comes from a scientist or a messiah. Question it. And constantly question yourself.

I saw this article and it INFURIATED ME! As a person who goes through spells of months of deep depression, I know how hard it is to want to live, let alone eat, shower, or do anything else. Therapists continuously encourage people to go and try and have fun. Go out and socialize with your friends (don't shut yourself in your house), go out and shop, DO something. Try and have FUN. Most of the time you spend these kind of outings being depressed and not having fun, not being able to get into it, and it makes you feel even more depressed for a myriad of reasons. But when a event comes along where you can finally get rid of those thoughts in your head and your perception becomes a little less morbid.. it's like a release! It's a godsend! I can't believe that they are taking away her benefits for trying to cope and treat her depression.

And just because a person seems to have a good time, doesn't mean they always are, on that other side of the coin. Some depressed people have very good public happy masks.

Insurance companies always seem to 'know' what's best for your condition. They don't know SHIT. That's what DOCTORS are for. That's why insurance is THERE. I've seen this kind of BS far too may times.. like a person who can't get an inhaler because their insurance doesn't want to cover it (even though they do for others). Did they even bother to find out that this person is allergic to one of the main ingredients in the other inhalers? Do they bother to find out that generics and brand prescriptions are actually different and can do more harm than good if they switch from one to the other?
They always presume they know how to treat the people they insure when they just need to keep their noses out of it and leave it up to the doctors. That's their JOB. They need to stick to it!

How do you think this woman is going to fair now, with a depressive disorder, god knows what else along with that, and no way to pay for meds or therapy? She might very well just go off the deep end. But the insurance doesn't care. All they care about is that they don't have to pay for it anymore.

People make me sick.
