Ferret starting to get thin.

One of my ferrets is starting to get thin and I'd like a bit of healing energy sent in case he's got something, because ferrets tend to die of diseases when they get old, rather than old age itself.
Thanks in advance.

He might have something like cancer, if he's getting thin.

Not that you need me to tell you this, but a trip to the vet might be in order.

And some healing energy sent for the poor little guy.

How old is your ferret and has he/she blown their coat yet this season? Has anything changed in diet, location, environment? Any additions to the household to cause undo stress? Are there any other symptoms like weeping eyes, sniffles, lethargy, loss of interest...etc?

I have four of the little carpet sharks and we just went through a very stressful period for them (moving) and a few lost weight and blew their coat. One started loosing fur on his tail.

to you and your little weasel may he have many more weasel war dances left.

My mother's boyfriend thinks he's just shedding. I'd say he's around 3-4 years old.
And no, nothings changed. He seems like a normal ferret as far as behaviour goes.

Iv had ferrets, I hope yours gets fatter soon xo

Is he pooping normally? It is very common for ferrets to eat objects (usually rubber like bottle nipples, toys ect..) and then get them stuck in their intestines. I had to pay over 500 bucks once, to have a baby soother removed from inside him. I saved myself the money the next time it happened and fed him some cod liver oil - it lubed him up and he passed whatever it was that had him clogged up - maybe this would work for your little guy? Good luck with him, either way.

Mine go through cycles where they get really fat... and then get skinny. I talked to my vet about this and he said that it's normal (after a blood panel on both just to make sure). I do find that sometimes, mine just lose intrest in their normal food so I grab a bag of something else for a little bit to add some intrest (They are usually on 8 in 1 ultra blend... we will switch over to Kaytee Ferret Feista) and that seems to do the trick. Also, I will give them a little moist cat food (poultry or beef flavors... never seafood) and that seems to perk them up as well as well as putting a little weight on as well. Of course, be ready with extra litter duty if you change up the food and add in the mosit as do they go a bit more often but I find it's a small issue opposed to them looking too skinny. Also, sometimes they lose weight just becuase they are more active as well!! Running around the house more, playing with their other ferret friends (I have ferret play parties with another friend who has two as well!!). From what i've been told though is that as long as getting skinny isn't part of a other symptoms (sneezing, coughing, wheezing, fur loose, running nose, etc. ) it is fairly common. Remember, as people we loose and gain anywhere from 8-10 poiunds in a day but if it happens on a ferret it is much more noticeable then on us. Wieght fluctuation is common but I can understand you concern!! Hopefully your little fuzzbutt is feeling better in no time!! ((HUGS))
