Since smell is the strongest sense tied to memory, I could see how herbs could be an effective tool. Do any of you herbologists agree?

There was interesting work done by Albert Soesman on the 12 senses in his book by the same title... in a way when we smell we become what we smell- it is taken into our being as a sense sensation. It differs from sight, hearing, touch in this respect which has clearly defined senses of boundaries. Certain smells trigger ancient memories, maybe take on the spirit realm, and obviously can produce pathological changes in the brain.
So apart from the pleasure that arise from herbal fragrances, and it's necessity for enjoying food- no smell- no taste, it makes sense if you so choose, to utilise herbs, where appropriate, in your practise.
But as it is incorporated into your being, it means you should only use those herbs that are largely accepted as harmless to health.
