Reiki and CST
Anyone trained in Reiki and Craniosacral Therapy? I had my first CST class today and learned something rather interesting. I am a Reiki Master and I treat with Reiki in many different ways feel, color, etc. I sometimes would feel a rhythm and thought it was just part of the energy work; sometimes I would do different things when I would feel it, and sometimes I would just be aware. I never knew why I was doing something with that rhythm I felt, but I just sort of followed what felt right by listening to the client’s body--going against what I was taught in Reiki. Today when we did our first listening exercise I felt what I felt during Reiki treatments and thought….hmmm…odd. In passing I mentioned it to my instructor on break and she asked me after break to share the experience. So later when she asked me to share I did, and what she went on to point out was I was really feeling the CSF rhythms found in CST and not being trained in CST. She sort of explained it away that sometimes we already know something before we are trained in it and thinks this was all part of the journey to be right here today.
Sort of blew me away. Mainly because I was feeling something other than what I thought….some of the techniques today I have done in the past during Reiki and did not know why, I just followed what I heard in my head. Which then later she talked about trusting your hands and what they HAVE to do. She also suggested a book called Your Inner Physician and You. Which I do want to read, but in a way I am rather—I don’t know a good word, sort of intimidated but not because of I am afraid it is over my head, but more so because of what I may also learn about my beliefs that might actually be something else. I don’t know…..it was just a rather weird yet rewarding experience today. Also, today I learned when I would feel a rocking motion or a wave coming back from the client, I would think I was not grounded properly, I would try and ground, I would use grounding stones in my pocket and could never seem to really be grounded—or so I thought. What she taught me today, I was feeling their rhythm and thinking I was not grounded and that is why when I would be drawn to do something outside of what I learned with Reiki the feeling would then subside. No wonder my clients felt so good, not only were they getting a Reiki treatment they were getting a half assed CST treatment. Just think how they will feel now that I actually know what I am doing. ![]() So I am wondering if you are trained in Reiki and CST--which were you trained in first? And have you had similar experiences like this?

I know nothing about CST, but B does. I'll have him read this and get his comments for you.
I do understand what you mean though, feeling like something not "traditional" reiki needs doing. That happens alot. I also understand what you mean about being sort of intimidated to learn that what you are doing isn't what you THOUGHT you were doing. LOL You're not alone there.

![]() Today at work I was filling some in on what happened and my one friend was freaked out by it and then later something else happened and I just looked at her with that deer in headlights look and she was like what? And when I told her what she just told me was connected to something else---freaked out she walked away and threw her hands up in the air and said, I am not playing this connect the dot game with you. Hey can I help it you were meant to tell me something that needed to connect to something else right at that exact moment? ![]() I am just as blown away at times as others are--it is hard for me still sometimes to wrap my head around what I might be hearing or seeing. I am still understanding all of what happened. The more and more people I share it with the more and more I hear what they were feeling too and now want to look more into CST. BREATHE. One important part for me is the improvement with autistic children---friend of mine has an autistic son and it is something he will be able to benefit from she was not aware of before. That and about a million other things....... ![]()

Link: (at the bottom) http://www.wellontheway.org/content/pages/faq/ If you are going to look into it---I forget how old your granddaughter is but if under eight years old make sure the CST in trained to work with pediatric children. If older than eight then they consider those children as adults for CST treatment and you don't have to have someone specially trained for children.

The Doctor of Chinese Medicine I've been seeing for accupuncture suggested rubbing certain spots on her spine and her feet. She will let her mom rub her feet at times, but we cannot touch her back as she is very sensitive there and squirms away very quickly. Deep pressure touch and massage is recommended for kids with ASD, but our little one is just too sensitive to even try it with her. CST is still something I think I'll look into at least. Thanks for the links. |

I know the touching can be an issue. The good thing is when working with kids the parents/grandparents are right there during the treatment...they are not alone. 30 minute treatments usually work better too. As for the pressure it is only 5 grams which is the weight of a nickel. So that is almost like nothing. I hope you get to try it and I hope it works for her, I know it can be a real benefit.
Glad Upledgers helped. Keep us updated.

I'm a Registered Massage Therapist in Ontario, and have a background in Qigong, Reiki and Cranio-sacral Therapy. You probably noticed that the cranio-sacral rhythms correspond with the energy pulsations (the energy body contracting and expanding).
If you haven't figured that out, I'm sure you would eventually. This might save you some time. Adding a bit of energy to the treatment will speed up the process. But don't just Whump a huge amount of energy into the client. Just allow for a healthy flow.
